Chapter 22

Hades

Jillian was mine, and I wasn't going to let anyone have her. If I had my way, I wouldn't let Loukas or my friends talk to her, so I drew the line at the servants. They will bow before her and grovel at her feet and nothing else. They cannot speak to such a precious jewel; she is the brightest diamond amongst the polished obsidian stones of the Underworld. I wasn't going to have anyone lustfully look at her.

Jillian gave off her captivating giggle as I stood up to wrap my arms around her. My heart about burned in the fiery pits of hell, thinking that my mate was angry with me. My soul can't take it; I'll give her whatever she wants and spoil her throughout eternity.

"Was that what you wanted to tell me earlier when we were in your office?' Letting out a frustrating sigh, I glanced at Jillian, who had not stopped looking at me since I begged for forgiveness for even having a harem. Her soothing voice almost made my body go slack but hearing that she still wanted to know what evil sin I had created to cause much despair to the supernatural realm and Earth gave me fear.

Trixen was given immense power because of my stupid decisions, thinking I could create my own mate. Even in my stupidity, I knew it was a bad idea to keep many women locked away, yet there I was. The God of the Idiots.

"I'll tell you, just please don't leave me." Jillian's eyes softened, and her hands came up to my chest.

"As long as you are honest with me, I won't leave," she whispered. I wanted to believe her words, but the thought of telling her everything made my stomach tie up in knots. I still had much to say to her, and I didn't want to do it all at once.

We both sat back down on the blanket; our lantern still shone brightly in the evening sky. The sun had made its descent as I had her lay down with me. Her legs automatically curled around mine, and she nuzzled into my chest while gazing over the beautiful view.

"I was an angry god," I started as her head shifted to look at the side of my face. Her finger traced my jawline, and I let out a breath. "I wanted Persephone; at the time, she was the most beautiful goddess I had ever laid eyes on. She played in a meadow with her mother on Earth, and the moment her mother looked away, I dragged her down to the Underworld. As time continued on, I tried to woo her; I fed her the most elaborate foods, gave her flowers and gifts that Aphrodite herself would be jealous over. Not once did she show any interest.”

Jillian shifted closer and pecked me on the cheek. Biting my bottom lip, I tried to resist the urge to stick my tongue in her mouth and have my way with her.

“I was stubborn; I didn't want to let her go; I promised her that one day she would fall for me, that was until Selene, the Moon Goddess started pairing off souls."

"Go on," she whispered quietly as the crickets started chirping louder.

"First, Selene started off with the Werewolves; Ares had created the race to help humans fight gods that had created other species based on human anatomy. Ares took the strongest warriors and gave them the gift of shifting into Wolves. They were ferocious beasts and could take down many of the evil Vampires, Witches, and other types of Shifters. Once most of the evil, the defective ones, were disposed of, the years went by, and there was nothing for the Werewolves to do. When they are not fighting, they are restless, so Selene stepped in and realized they were not a whole person; they were missing an important part of themselves. Their other half."

I shifted my body, so Jillian lay on top of me, her head resting on my chest.

"Now all Werewolves were destined to find their someone, and their beasts were then satisfied and didn't hunt for blood. It worked so well, other creatures were allowed to have a soul mate. Vampires call them beloveds, Faes their destined one or mate. It wasn't until I had Persephone in the Underworld for a thousand-years when Selene and Zeus stepped in with some angel. I didn't get a good look at him because I was distracted, but he grabbed Persephone and slipped away. I was livid; I destroyed half of the Underworld in one blow. The fire burned the villages; Hermes and Vulcan left the Underworld to stay elsewhere." I grabbed Jillian a little tighter as she glanced into my eyes.

"That is so sad, Hades. I'm sorry." My fucking mate felt sorry that I lost someone I thought I loved? Kronos, it made my chest hurt. She was damn fucking perfect.

"Years later, I created a demoness, Trixen. When I create a demon, I put one drop of blood into their bodies to have almost complete control. I can know where they are, control their desires to a certain degree and make sure they cannot leave the Underworld. With Trixen, I didn't because I wanted her to have her agency, to be able to choose me. I created her to be my mate."

Jillian went to sit up, but I held her back down as I sat up. She squirmed a bit and grunted when she realized she wasn't going anywhere.

"But Selene was giving everyone mates. Why couldn't you wait for me?" Holy fucking damn shit, her lip went into the most prominent pout. Jillian could be so childish and innocent sometimes; it made my cock want to do nasty things to her sweet body.

"I told you, I was an idiot!" I threw my hands up in defeat. "I was so mad at Selene; I didn't want her help. I wanted to make things on my own, but it blew up in my stubborn ass face." I twisted Jillian, so she straddled me while she still kept her arms folded around her body. I couldn't force her to hold onto me, but I was losing control of her not wanting to touch me.

"I put too much of my anger and frustration about bonds into her. Some of my aura slipped. It was a foolish thing on my part, but her brain didn't let it go. She rejected me the moment she opened her eyes and sought out nothing but revenge. Her power was incomparable to most demons and what was worse was she possessed a strong magical Witch with a blasé attitude about herself. Trixen easily took over her body so she could roam Earth and cause nothing but pain to humans and supernaturals for no reason at all."

Jillian held back a sob as I further explained. The Werewolf pack that I need to see was the pack that stopped Trixen. I could not reach Trixen each time they delayed her, and a tiny human turned Werewolf who is now the Luna saved the world from the demoness' wrath. Luna Charlotte suffered the most for years dealing with the bitch. Trixen practiced bonding brands on her skin and told the vampire he had to check her blood for the right time of ripening until he could forcibly bond with her.” Jillian gripped me tighter.

“Charlotte had proved strong once she met her mate, Wesley Hale, and proved that a true bond was more potent than a fake one. It couldn't be erased, and it only pissed off Trixen more. Charlotte was able to slaughter her the first time she shifted, proving again how strong a Werewolf bond really was.

"That poor woman." Jillian let a single teardrop. "And to think she was human and didn’t know how to fight or control her Wolf." I smiled as I tilted her head to kiss her cheek.

"A Wolf is a special bond between the human side and the animal side. They were made for each other just as soul mates were made for each other. They complement."

Jillian gave a small smile and wrapped her arms around my neck. "But she is OK now, right? She lived through it?"

"She did; unfortunately, she and many others suffered for my mistake. Those who died by Trixen’s hands have been given a second chance and reborn. They won't know of their past sufferings. It still lingers on in my own guilt." Jillian put her fingers through my hair, tilting her head as she kissed my forehead.

"See, I didn't leave. You gave those who suffered a second chance. You made a mistake, and it's over now. Even if it did make me angry that you would try and replace me." Jillian stuck out her tongue, and I leaned in to try and suck it in my mouth. Sticking her tongue back in, she slumped her shoulders. "What do you have to do with that 'pack' of Wolves?" Jillian threw up air quotations with her fingers.

"I put up a barrier to help protect them against rogues and magic. They have been trying to contact me for years, and since they haven't been able to, I wonder if someone else is using a magical ward to prevent them from summoning me. If this is the case, we need to go investigate."
