Chapter 74

Ember

That was incredible. The decorations, the ceremony, the lights, oh my gosh, the lights! The fireworks weren't really fireworks at all. They stood still in the sky like our own mini galaxy full of twinkling stars.

Hades and I held each other as everyone began to disperse. Dionysus was leading people away from the lily pad holding ceremony. They were all running to the back of the packhouse.

I could smell the roasted boars and some other foods I was unfamiliar with. Celestial fairies flew above us, putting out the candles leaving Hades and me under the pseudo stars above the ceremony ground.

"Now everyone knows you are mine." Hades nipped at my ear while pulling me in by my waist. "No one will ever dare take you away from me.

"Not that they would dare," I snickered. Hades swooped down to kiss me again, but my stomach growled in protest. Getting ready all day was hard work, not to mention the several climaxes before the ceremony even started.

"Let's get you and the little one fed." My face heated up, our little one. Rubbing my belly absentmindedly, Hades led me to the back of the packhouse. Giant balloons of white and red lights glowed over the dance floor. Wolves intermingling with demons, angels, and Celestial Fairies. Gods were also talking to other pack Wolves like they were just one of the group. The stark difference of power was noticeable, but the gods didn't want to overpower them at all. They wanted to celebrate just as much as the others.

There will be several more ceremonies in our future. Vulcan, Ares, and Hermes were all huddled together with their mates. They weren't partying at all. Well, I guess they were drinking with their mates, if that counts. Their mates sat on their laps like little trophies while they fed each other. Many would find it sickening, but I found it adorable.

Peeping around the room, I wanted to see if there were any more mates to be had. The giddiness of finding out that I could mate souls in person reminded me quickly when I glanced at Hera and Michael. My heart almost throbbed with excitement.

Squeezing Hade's hand, I knew this was our moment, and he wasn't going to want to share. I had to be cool, calm, and collected about this. I wanted him to feel as much in the spotlight as possible and that I found him my number one. Biting my lip and bouncing on my toes, Hades quickly caught on that something was bothering me. He sighed heavily and pinched his nose. "Who do you see?" he complained. Kissing his cheek, I pointed to Hera and Michael.

"That might start some drama," he spoke lowly. "Zeus was hoping to get her back." I twisted my mouth in displeasure.

"He wouldn't dare take her, would he?"

Hades shook his head, pulling me close. "Not after what Demeter pulled. Besides, I'd overpower him and take his powers like Demeter." I felt Selene's presence behind me, her soft fingers brushing my bareback.

"What do you see, Ember? I see that gleam in your eye." Tittering, I turned to her and pointed to the couple.

"Hera and Michael," I whispered. "Don't you see it?" Selene tilted her head, looking between the couple and me.

"See what?" She bit her red lips as she stared at the couple slow dancing together.

"The glow, they are supposed to be soul mates, right?" I questioned. Selene gasped in realization.

"You have the empathy gift; you can see the love of their souls just as you can read anyone and their emotions. I can see through the Sphere; you can see with your own eyes." She smiled brightly at me. "This could be a gift or a curse to you," she warned Hades.

"How so?" Hades grumbled. Gripping my waist tightly.

"Because your Ember is a caring soul and might get carried away wanting to pair too many," she laughed. Selene wandered through the crowd, watching the mated couples while I gave my most enormous puppy eyes to my mate.

"Just one couple tonight." I raised my finger. "Just one and then no more. It is all about us." Hades smirked and kissed the side of my mouth.

"One," he growled. "Then you are mine for a few weeks." I went to protest until his finger traced my lips. "Mine." I squealed and pulled Hades with me, wanting him to watch what I could do.

Hera and Gabriel's eyes widened, hands sandwiched together; they both glanced at each other, wondering what I was doing. They dared not tell me no, because Hades stood behind me brooding with his arms crossed raising a brow. He was still mad I had decided to pair a couple, but he could get over it. Hera had deserved it after the many years she put up with Zeus and his douchebaginess.

My eyes closed, and pulling them together, their hands both vibrated and warmed. Hera gasped first while the Arch Angel Michael followed. His large wings, the largest that I had ever seen amongst all the angels, pulled Hera into her as soon as I let go. They were in their own little feather pod while Hades pulled me back.

"Okay, they are done. Now you are mine." Laughing, Hades pulled me to the buffet table and filled my plate full of the most delicious food. Food ranging from my pack’s specialties, sweet Bergarian flower salads, Ambrosian Sponge Cakes, and skewers of roasted falcon and vegetables filled my nose. I ate a ridiculous amount of food while Hades had me on his lap. I was too hungry to care, so happy to be in my mate's arms, and finally no more drama. All the drama had slipped away.

Hades kissed my forehead and moved me to my own padded chair he had willed for the both of us. "I need to speak to Ares about the safety of your pack once we leave. I'll be back shortly." I nodded my head, too engrossed in the food, and licked my fingers delicately. I couldn't remember the last time I ate so much food. My stomach was going to be too distended to dance later.

"Ember," a smooth voice spoke until I looked up. Loukas and Nora stood hand in hand, both sporting fresh marks. I popped another grape in my mouth and clapped my hands like a child.

"Oh, you both look adorable!" I squealed, and Loukas blushed a bright shake of deep blue. Nora giggled, looking up at him adoringly. I was so happy for Nora. I had remembered she had always been at the bottom of the pack but a dutiful worker. Her times in the kitchen had made everything so pleasant growing up. Almost like a second mother to me. She was at least sixty years old in human years but with the Werewolf blood, looked not a day over 30.

"We just wanted to say thank you," Nora spoke for Loukas, who was still uncomfortable. His tail was securely wrapped around Nora's other arm. I bit my lip, trying not to laugh at the silliness of it all. "And that, we were wondering if I could live with Loukas in the Underworld and work for you. He has a high position with Hades, and I don't want him to give that up." Nora was such a doll thinking of her mate.
