Chapter 54
Hades
I was angry.
More than angry, I was furious.
I wanted nothing more than to destroy every living thing in this pack. Still, it would only bring unhappiness to Ember, my mate. I kept it in; I reined in all my fury for her. Her family was tolerable. They were happy to see her. Who wouldn't be? She was a delicate flower, my flower that I didn't want to share and only hide her in my darkness where only she would shine for me.
But that is selfish. I was selfish.
After finishing a chess game with Dante, her brother, who was now on my "don't fuck up again" list, Wesley pulled me to the side while the others went to refill their glasses. I shouldn't be a damn hypocrite about Dante messing up. It was a terrible domino effect that affected my mate. Every decision everyone else made, made her suffer. It all angered me to no end. I wanted to curse the fates.
"Listen, Hades. We found out some crucial information about the fairy that Dante told us about. We didn't mention it earlier since Ember didn't look to be in the mood to listen." Ember had been squirming in my lap the entire time we had visited with her extended family. There was an itch she wanted to scratch, and I didn't know what it was. She didn't want to talk about Dante's poor decision of not telling his parents of the woodland Fairy. She tried to move on, and her parents gladly did so when her nose scrunched up in disgust as Dante showed his guilt yet again. She was doing it for his sake, but the conversation wasn't nearly over, just over for her.
"We know who the Fairy is."
I narrowed my eyes as I pulled Wesley by his collar closer to me. "And you are just now telling me? You should have said something sooner." Wesley gulped, trying to pull my hands away, but I was a ticking time bomb. Ember and I were recently mated, and now I had to deal with her family. I was used to being alone. Even while alone in a cabin with Ember for a few fantastic days, I wanted more. In fact, I needed her now. Letting go of Wesley, he rubbed his neck.
"I'm sorry, Hades. Ember looked overwhelmed, and I'm looking out for my daughter," Wesley growled. "She's been through enough, and if she didn't want to talk about it right then, I wasn't going to." I nodded my head.
"Your right," I mumbled. Wesley stood back with his eyes furrowed.
"Ember has been through a lot. We will discuss it tomorrow. Just give me the name," I prodded. Wesley sighed and ran his hand through his messy hair.
"Demeter." My eyes whipped to Wesley's. I looked him up and down to see if he was lying, but he only shook his head. "Vulcan confirmed it." The black smoke started to flow through me, and the fire in my eyes reflected into Wesley's.
That snake of a woman. She chose a Fairy form as not to alert me of her presence. The ward protected the pack, it kept the lesser supernaturals out, but it did not keep out gods if they were invited into the territory. I'm going to kill her.
"Anyone want some cheesecake?" Charlotte walked in with a large platter of various flavors while she looked around. "Where is Ember?" The smoke stopped flowing from me as I turned to look at Charlotte. My eyes still glowed red as Ember's family shook in fear.
"Where. Is. She?" I growled out. My breath began to heave as I closed my eyes to find her. She wasn't far, near the woods; I felt her through the bond. In a flash, I had transported myself to her side.
She had been searching in the treehouse.
That damn Sphere, I sighed as I pulled my platinum hair. It was going to be the death of me. Even during her heat, she would bring it up. I didn't give a damn about it right now. All my thoughts and cravings were her and her alone. We would find it in time. I knew we would.
When she spoke to her Wolf proving herself, I wanted to show her that I was all she needed. Not one claw did I want her to lift to protect herself. She suffered enough, and I wanted to be her everything; I wanted to make those who try and take her away from me pay, just like Malachi, Persephone, and Demeter.
As the party continued, Ember continued talking about mates and some glow she saw. I had no doubt she was seeing something, but I saw nothing. Nothing but serving demons now dancing amongst the party. I should command them to get back to what they were meant for, but Ember was too engrossed in how both Wolves and demons intermingled with each other.
That damn glow. Could Ember see a mate bond, a thread of something that should be there? Her empath abilities could help her see if the emotion is strong enough. But hell, I didn't care about that.
Ember's mind wandered again as she pulled me through the crowds. I was happy she was at least pulling me through the crowd and not leaving me. Jealousy swelled in my chest as I saw Lyle. He was constantly staring at Ember, whether she knew or not, but it was enough to make my blood boil. On top of others seeking her attention, I had enough.
Asking her to dance, pulling her close to me had only sated some of my possessiveness over her. Her heat against my upper thigh had pulled me into a trance. I wanted nothing more than to sink myself into her cavern. To taste her, to make her feel like she was in the high heavens all over again.
Then her thoughts came to me; they were there so loud it made me want to chuckle. Ember really did not have any control over her mind-linking; it was almost adorable. Once dirty thoughts entered her mind, my cock twitched, already painfully hard, as I felt the swell of her breasts brush against my body.
How mad would she be if I did her right here, in front of the massive fire around her family and friends? To let them know that a god had her, that she would always be mine and I would never allow her to go? My grip on her waist tightened as I bent lower, deliberately rubbing my cock against her core. With the rhythm of the music, no one would have seen this as obscene.
Blackness evaded her eyes as I felt her lust through our bond. No more playing, no more sharing, for right now, I wanted nothing but her. The smoke gathered around us as I placed my lips on hers. Her lips parted, letting me taste the sweet taste of the strawberries she had just eaten. Her strawberry blonde hair swirled around us as I saw several onlookers peering on in fright.
I willed us to a small clearing in the forest, a queen-sized mattress with blankets, pillows, and nothing but the stars to watch what wicked things I would do to her. Creating a ward, so no man, Wolf, or demon could see us, I continued to kiss her as I backed her up to a nearby tree. The bark was smooth, nothing that would catch her clothes, not that it would matter because I would rip them to pieces anyway.
"Hades," she moaned as my open-mouth kisses went down her neck. My gods' mark, the scepter, glowed as I licked between her breasts. Her nipples pebbled underneath her white laced bra. I groaned, appreciating her reaction to my touch. This would never get old; this would always be the high I was seeking.
Wrapping my hand around her neck, I gave it a slight squeeze while her breasts curved out, begging for me to take them in my mouth. Pulling her right leg up to my thigh and digging my erection into her pussy I growled. "You will not go looking for trouble, will you, Ember?" She squirmed as my cock rubbed her clit between our clothes. "I will always look after you; I will kill whoever dare touches what is mine."
