Ember

The bathroom was massive; it was half the size of the large studio room we were staying in and held both a jacuzzi tub and a large walk-in shower. The entire room was tan with hints of small succulent plants and hanging eucalyptus over the shower. The smell opened my lungs as the steam filled the room with its healing properties.

Steam showers were my new favorite, better than the cold showers I had to deal with for many years. I never wanted to be without one. Breathing in the intoxicating scent the eucalyptus was radiating, I felt the heat begin to rise again. Does it ever really stop? "They do, don't they?" Hades was fading fast, his heart slowing, and mine followed suit. My eyes grew heavy as Hades' breath evened out. Before I could ask him why we were so tired, we both fell into a heavy sleep.

I took Dante to the pack office. He slumped up the stairs while that stupid animal chatted in his ear. What the hell was that thing anyway? It always hopped out when someone was all disturbed or distressed.

Opening the large mahogany doors, I see the desk that has been replaced far too many times. This whole room had to be redone after Charlotte dealt with her own kidnappings, and Remus decided to trash the place. After the mating and Luna ceremony, Charlotte had the whole room cemented down to the floor so I couldn't throw things; it didn't help with the desk at home; I've broken that one too many times since Ember's disappearance.

I resisted the urge to sit behind my desk and just sat across from Dante on the other couch. Kitten said it was too intimidating for our own children, and I needed to take a more fatherly, subtle approach when talking to our children. She really did run the pants in the family. I rubbed my hand down my face as Dante stared at the floor.

"An alpha does not stare at the floor; he faces his fears. Now, look me in the eye." Dante's face held no tears, thank goddess. I can't handle a crying alpha right now. His back straightened up, and he looked me in the eye. His Wolf was tense; I could feel it.

I growled out as I slapped my knee. "I know I yelled at you; I told your mother I wouldn't be that kind of father, but damnit Dante, I thought you would think of us as better parents." Dante didn't say anything as he shifted his body on the couch."If you did tell us about this Fairy, I don't think it would have done any good. We would have looked for this Fairy for ages and never found her. Fairies can hide well, and if they don't want to be found, they won't. Still, I need you to tell me these kinds of things. Tell me what is going on in our territory for the sake of others."

"I understand." Dante's voice became stronger than earlier. "I did make a mistake, and I agree with your punishment. I think I should have a greater punishment actually."
