That I belonged to them.

He laughed harshly. “No? That’s too bad, pet. Keep your eyes wide open. You look away, and you won’t like the consequences.”

My heart pounded fiercely in my chest.

He kept his eyes on me as I watched Nikolay and the blue-eyed man approach the two other men, who, for their part, knew they were outmatched.

“Hey, man. We didn’t know she belonged to you. We were just trying to have some fun,” the blond man said.

He didn’t get to say any more. Nikolay grabbed an empty glass bottle nearby and smashed the guy’s head. He went down, crying out.

I winced as I watched the scene unfold, tears forming in my eyes.

I didn’t dare look away.

Nikolay turned to the blue-eyed man, who at this point had his victim pinned against the wall, his elbow pushing into the man’s neck, cutting off oxygen.

The man was turning blue.

“What do you think is a suitable punishment for touching what’s ours, Mikhail?”

Mikhail laughed, pulling out a knife and holding it against the man’s face. He started to cry and I—

I was going to be sick.

I didn’t want to see anymore.

I leaned down and vomited what little breakfast I’d actually had this morning.

Screams mixed with the sound of my gagging, as tears burned my eyes and fell down my face.

Hands grasped my shoulders. I flinched and looked up at green eyes.

There was something off about Nikolay now.

He didn’t say anything as he picked me up, placing me over his shoulder like how one would carry a stack of potatoes.

I looked up briefly and found a bloody mess in the alley, before I let out a small cry and shut my eyes. Nikolay carried me away.

He shoved me in the car without the other two. I tried to open the door, but the child’s lock was in place. Nikolay grabbed both of my hands in his large one, and I didn’t even notice the zip ties in his hand.

He bound my wrists together before reaching over and putting my seatbelt on.

Then he peeled out of there without another word, taking me straight to the motel.
