Chapter 38

Lisa

I’dfinishedclassand decided that seeing as it was time for Dane to finish too. I would head back home with him. I was meeting him at the bus stop, so we could get the same bus back home.

Home.

Well, his home anyway, not mine. I just wish that I had a crystal ball and I would know what to do with myself. I smiled as I approached him and he returned it. That was when I noticed that he had something in his hand.

A box.

“Mine?” I asked recognizing the writing across it.

He nodded, “Sorry Tanya said I could give it to you.”

Tanya?

He continued to tell me what happened when he went to the dorm. I was thankful that he’d made the effort and wanted so bad for Tanya and I to be friends again. I knew that it was too late for that, it was a shame that he didn’t realize, when he made the effort. It was nice of him to try though. I loved the idea of him doing it to make me happy.

“I just want to get in, and take a shower. I should have done one this morning, but there was no time.”

I nodded as he told me about his plans once we got home.

Afterwards we sat in silence on the bus, until we got off the bus and then we headed to the apartment. It was weird, because the walk from the bus stop to the apartment. I felt as if someone was watching us, but then I thought it was silly for being so paranoid.

We headed into the building, and then up in the elevator. All the time we were walking in silence, and all the time I felt as if someone was watching. I kept spinning my head around to see, but saw no one and decided I needed to stop thinking about the media and just get on with things, they weren’t following me. I’d dyed my hair black and wore shades. It wasn’t much of a disguise, but it seemed to do the trick. No one paid as much attention to me, as they did when the bag of worms came out about the truth.

I was shocked to see that when we did get in, that both David and Daxon were in.

“Oh, I thought you were pizza!” David said as he jumped up from the sofa.

I headed to my room, carrying my box as if it was a precious jewel and Dane headed into the bedroom, no doubt to get the shower, that he said he was dying to have.

Then, the bell rang, they both ran to it, like little boys.

“At last, we’re starving…”

I could tell by the sound of David’s voice, that it wasn’t pizza he had found at the front door. And in front of him were both Tanya and Fiona.

“I knew something was going on!”

Fiona blurted out as she passed them and invited herself in.

“I knew that you were different all the time, but two of you.”

Tanya chipped in. “No, three.”

As she pointed at Dane, who was standing at the door with his towel. He’d heard the commotion and like me, curiosity had got the better of him and he decided to see what was going on.

“Oh I’ve got you, Dane Rogers. I’m going to post this and let everyone see that you’re a fraudster.”

She said as she took out her phone, and started to take photos.

Before we could even think what to do. Tanya rushed over to her phone and smashed it on the ground. “No, you’re not. Enough.”

“Tanya, I thought that we were friends.”

She laughed, “Friends? Do you think that I’ve forgotten how you treated me when I joined the team? Short. Tiny. A spec. Every name under the sun. If you even think about taking a video or even photos, exposing any of this then I have something on you remember.”
