Chapter 26
Tanner
What is that sound? It’s getting louder. My eyes crack open, and I see Maverick’s beautiful face. Light is shining through the bedroom window. Is it morning? The sound again, someone is banging on the door. Shit! He never left!
“Tanner!! Get your ass up, I need in!” Dani shouts.
I shake his arm and he stirs with his eyes still closed.
“Zeke,” I push harder.
“What is it baby?” He yawns and I slap him across the chest.
“Tanner!” Dani bangs on the door again.
“Oh fuck,” he whispers and jumps up from the bed.
“You were supposed to go back to your room!” I whisper harshly.
He hops on one foot, trying to pull on his jeans.
“One sec Dani!” I yell out as I pace the room in a panic.
I guess I could shove him out the window, but there may be people outside. And it’s a two story. I glance over at my closet door and rush over, yanking it open. “Get in.”
He raises a brow. “Are you serious right now?”
“Do you want your sister to find us! She will tell Travis!” I point to the closet.
“Jesus……fine.” He buttons his pants and walks over.
Dani yells something again but I’m too focused on shoving him behind all my clothes.
He steps in and I shove him back, so my clothes swallow him like a black hole. I can barely see him now. Perfect.
“Just stay quiet. I'll get rid of her,” I whisper.
I shut the door and take a step. I realize I’m still freaking naked, so I grab a t- shirt and pull it over my head as I shuffle to the door. Pulling it open, I smile at Dani and try to function as natural as possible.
“Took you long enough,” she says as she brushes past me and flops down on my bed.
The bed that probably still smells like sex. With her brother. Wonderful.
I shake the thought and close the door. “What’s going on? Why are you beating on my door at seven in the morning?”
Her eyes zone in on the carpet next to my bed.
“Is that Maverick's sock?”
I freeze. “Huh?”
She points, “Maverick is the only one in the club who wears red socks.” She picks it up off the ground.
Shit, Tanner. Think.
“Oh yeah, I forgot I had to borrow a pair the other day. I still need to wash them.” I reach out and take it from her hand with a smile.
Thank God she seems to buy it. I sat down next to her, “What’s up Dani?”
