The room erupts with laughter, and I hold back my grin, so my best friend doesn’t knock my ass out.
“Alright, the official meeting starts now. What do we got?” I look over at Boston.
“We ain’t got much, just talk about the prospects and talk about Scar’s welcome back party. He’s getting released next month.”
“The two prospects that are even close to patching would be Skittles and Dice,” Widow says as he continues to drink out of his bottle.
“Skittles been keeping up with you, Preach?” I ask.
“Yeah, he’s a good boy. I think he’s here for the right reasons,” he answers with honesty.
I look over at Widow. “Dice?”
He nods. “Same.”
“Alright. Let's let them handle the next run. Dom, you will go on that one with Tank.” I motion to him with my hand. “As for the party, I’m not your party planner. Whatever the hell you want to do, do.” I tell Romeo. “Just make sure there’s plenty of booze and tits.”
“You got it, Prez.” Romeo slides his hat backwards as he leans back on his chair.
“Alright, get the fuck out. I got shit to do today,” I say as I stand from my seat.
Grumbling voices and chairs scraping across the floor echo in the room. “Not you,” I say to Dom as he stands up.
“What?” He asks as he stares at me with a forced blank expression.
“Is this going to be a problem?” I tighten my jaw to show I’m serious.
“Maverick, seriously. It’s my sister.” He scoffs
“I know that. I’m just making sure you are going to explain to her where her place is, and it’s clearly not fucking here.” I cross my arms over my chest as he steps back.
“She ain’t coming here. I plan to keep her as far away as possible.” His hazel eyes bore into mine with certainty.
My friend has a hard past. I can see in his eyes she’s a weakness, but I won’t bring it up. Not yet.
“Okay brother.” I slap him on the shoulder as we walk out the door.
“Prez, we riding today?” Widow calls from the front door.
I give him a nod of acceptance and slide on my Oakleys.
Just another day in Paradise.
