When Zane opened his mouth to reply, Chupey jumped in between us and yipped. “That’s a story for another day.”
“What? Why?”
Zane nodded. “Right. Agreed.”
“Why can’t I know?”
“Later,” Chupey barked sharply.
Before I could argue more, the two of them headed for the stairs, cutting my curiosity short.
Why the secrecy around his death? I didn’t understand.
