“Probably not.”

“It was an intense moment.” He let out a slow breath. “If you haven’t noticed, I like you, and I’m finding it difficult to separate work from my attraction.”

“Is that always a problem for you?”

“No.” He paused in front of his vehicle. “With the exception of Melinda.”

“Are you always so honest?”

“Mostly,” he admitted. “I don’t see the point in lying or even sugarcoating things. However, I’ve been told that it’s not always a good approach when it comes to my dating life.”

“I appreciate the way you are. But when this is over, I’m going back to Pensacola, and you’re staying here. Not to mention, physical attraction doesn’t make for anything.”

“It’s where it all begins. Besides, it’s not only your looks that interest me.” He lifted her hand and kissed the back of it. “Shall we go dig through a bunch of paperwork? I promise I can keep my hands to myself.”

“It’s your lips I’m worried about.”

He chuckled. “I’ll work on it.”
