Bryn leaned closer. “I wouldn’t disagree.”
“Here they come,” Trinity said. She needed to be done with the conversation. While she was truly happy and excited for Bryn and Jamison, Trinity felt her chest tighten after a while whenever there was a ton of baby talk. And with everything else going on, her emotions were all over the place. “Holy crap. Those lobster rolls are huge.”
“They sure are. And they’re amazing. We know the guy who owns the truck. He only ships in the best. You’re going to love it,” Bryn said.
“Hey, babe.” Jamison set a tray of food on the table before sitting in a chair, all while dealing with a fussy baby like a pro. “Eat up before this one decides she’s hungrier than her mama.”
“I can feed her and eat at the same time,” Bryn said.
“But you don’t have to.” Jamison tugged at the side of the contraption that held his daughter against his chest. “However, she’s about to go full-on cry on us.”
“Just give her to me. But you might have to feed me while I feed our daughter.”
“I have no problem doing that,” Jamison said.
Trinity turned her head as she shoved her face full of lobster roll. “Wow. This is amazing.” Thank goodness she had something else to focus on; otherwise, she might break down and cry.
“I know, right?” Emmett said. “So, you’ve met Bryn, and this is my brother, Jamison.”
“His much younger brother, for the record.” Jamison winked as he passed his daughter to Bryn, who covered herself with a small blanket before breastfeeding her child.
It amazed Trinity how at ease both Jamison and Bryn were at being parents. Of course, they’d had months of practice, but still, Trinity had seen other people fumbling their way through things.
“Jamison here is the baby of the family. And he doesn’t let a moment go by without reminding any of us of that fact.”
“I’m an only child,” Trinity said. “I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have siblings.”
“I have a sister. She’s my best friend,” Bryn said. “These two are from a family of seven boys. And they are all close. I want that for my kids. It’s pretty amazing.”
“I imagine it is.” Trinity sucked in a breath, hoping she held back all her emotion. She lifted the lobster roll and took a big bite. “I don’t think I’ve ever had anything that tasted this great.”
“It’s the best.” Emmett placed his hand on her thigh and squeezed. “Why don’t we finish up here and head back to the bed and breakfast?”
“Sounds good to me.”
It was as if he’d read her mind, and that was something she appreciated. It also scared her because the last thing she needed was to be connected to a man in less than a day.
