The phone was in his hand.

Groaning, he shook his head.

“What’s going on?” Xander asked. “What can we do to help?”

Knox told them everything Babette had shared with him. “She’s alone and not answering her phone. That’s not like her.”

“When was the last time anyone heard from her?” Josie asked.

“I…I don’t know,” he said, not that it mattered. He was still going to find her to make sure she was okay. “I just need to go and find her.” He scribbled the address Babette had given him on a piece of paper and handed it to Xander.

“Don’t worry. We’ll see what we can find on our end. We teach all about finding a missing person so you go and we’ve got things covered here. I’ll call you with any updates.”

Looking around, he made sure he wasn’t forgetting anything. “I’m not sure how long I’ll be gone or…”

“Just go!” Daniel told him. “We’ve got things covered here but keep us posted, okay?”

He nodded and walked out of the office and was in the lobby when he heard Josie say, “Do you think he’d notice if we opened the box and maybe resealed it before he got back?”

“Son of a…” Growling with frustration, Knox quickly turned around and stalked back into the office and swiftly tucked the box under his arm. With a pointed look at Josie, he said, “Yes, I would have noticed.”

And walked back out again.
