Xander held up a hand to stop him. “One step ahead of you. Daniel and I were working on the schedule this week and tried to figure out how to reconfigure things, so maybe we’re not holding weekend sessions anymore. Or at least take a break from them. I know I wouldn’t mind having my weekends free, and Daniel feels the same. If I’m reading you right, you’re going to want at least a couple of weekends a month to see Maddie.”

“Exactly. But can we afford to just move all those weekend sessions to during the week? Won’t that cause us to lose clients?”

“I didn’t say we had it all figured out,” Xander said with a laugh. “I just said we were working on it. We got it down to one weekend a month and I think if we all work those sessions, we can host larger groups. On the flip side, that would mean a lot less one-on-one training.”

“And that’s been one of the biggest perks we’ve offered.”

“Bingo. But if we don’t cut the weekends and we perhaps do smaller sessions that only require one of us, then we can make it so we only do three a month and that means we’re each only working one weekend.” He paused and took another sip of water. “It’s better than nothing, but we figured it would be best if the three of us sat down together and talked it out.”

“Which are you leaning toward?”

“Honestly, with Daisy working with Meet Me at the Altar, she works a lot of weekends. It hasn’t been a huge issue for us, but down the road once we’re married, it might be. Same with Daniel. Once the baby’s born, Josie’s going to be home more and I have a feeling he’s going to want his weekends free.”

“That makes sense.” He sat quietly for a minute. “I can’t believe we’re thinking about changing our entire business plan because we’ve got women in our lives.”

“There are worse reasons to do it,” Xander said with a wink. “I don’t think any of us predicted that we’d be in this position or that the business was going to grow as fast as it did. We’ve talked about hiring some other special forces guys like ourselves down the road. The road just got here a bit sooner than we thought it would.”

“I guess. It just seems crazy to think about adding people to the payroll so we can have time with wives and girlfriends.”

“Who’s making time for wives and girlfriends?”

Knox turned and saw Josie walking in carrying a big pink cake box and a big smile on her face. Daniel was only a few steps behind her.

“Hey!” he said. “Everything go okay with the doctor?”

Josie’s smile grew. “Everything went great! They did an ultrasound, and we got to see the baby and it was just awesome.”

“And yet she still won’t let them tell us what we’re having,” Daniel said as he walked over to his desk. “I just think finding out the sex of the baby would be helpful so we can start buying stuff and designing the nursery.”

Rolling her eyes, Josie put the cake box down. “We’ve already designed the nursery and you said you loved all the colors.”

“But I’d love it more if I knew we could add pink or blue,” Daniel muttered.

“Oh stop,” she said with a quiet laugh. “And I brought cupcakes for you guys.”

Xander jumped up with a big smile. “Yes! I was hoping that’s what was in the box!”

Knox was a little slower to get to his feet and Josie clearly noticed. “You doing okay, Knox? Did everything go okay with Maddie?”

He shot an annoyed glance at Daniel because obviously nothing was private anymore. Then he forced a smile. “I’m fine. She went back to Chesapeake this morning.”

“Oh. Well that kind of sucks.”

He knew why it sucked for him but had no idea why she felt that way. “Why?”

“Because I was hoping to meet her.” She gave him a sweet smile before handing him a cupcake. “Any chance you’ll be seeing her again?”

“Um…”

“Yes,” Xander answered for him. “They’re going to do the long-distance thing.”

“Dude, seriously?” Knox huffed.

“What? I’m simply answering her question because I could tell you weren’t going to.”

“I was going to answer. I just needed more than three seconds to do it. Jeez.”

Josie looked completely amused before putting her focus on Knox. “So things went well?”
