“I figured as much.Well, your Wolf told my Gryphon. They’re rather chatty.”Kyllian’s voice was warm, and in that moment, Quinn knew they’d be okay. She would be an idiot to let her past get in the way of her future. She didn’t know how they’d make it work, only that they would.

“Tell me about my daughter.”

Kyllian laughed.“She’s a trip.Zeus, she’s like Mercy said.Smart.Tough.A lot like her mother. Not afraid of Gryphon rides.I have something to confess.”Kyllian took a deep breath and blew it out before continuing.“I knew you were at the compound.I saw them put you in the car, and I was following, but then I heard Nikita yell out, and I had to make a choice.Continue following you or go help her.”Kyllian kept his eyes on the road.“I chose her, Quinn.”

“As you should have. She’s still a kid.”

Kyllian rolled his shoulder, and Quinn focused on her mate.“You’re hurt.”

“One of the wolves got a shot off.Hit me here.”He released her hand long enough to point to his opposite side.“Ripper brought supplies, and Storm was able to get the bullet out.”

“How did my dad end up here?I didn’t want him involved.”

Kyllian threaded their fingers again.“He called while Nikita and I were waiting on the other wolves and the Hounds to find us.I knew he would be more upset not knowing what was going on than hearing the truth, so I told him what we were up against. That we needed a sniper. He didn’t hesitate, Quinn, and I’m glad. That shot he took was perfect.Since you were being held by two of the RC pack, I wasn’t sure whether or not we could get close, so...”Kyllian shrugged.“It was the right call. The two Hounds who were watching over him gathered up some guns, and the three of them chartered a private flight.Mercy, Jeremy, and Brett took Nikita to my sister’s house in Texas to get her away from the fighting.Storm was shot, but he’s going to live. The RC pack is used to the area. They know the landscape and where to hide, but we got in some shots of our own.”

A car headed their direction on the narrow road.Quinn ducked down in the seat until they had passed.“Are they turning around?”

Kyllian glanced in the rearview mirror.“Doesn’t look like it.I’m surprised they didn’t recognize the car.”

Quinn rose and turned to look out the back window.“If it was pack.”

“With the number of wolves in the area, I’d bet on it.”Kyllian sped up a little, and Quinn was glad for it.She wanted to put as much distance between them and the cliffs as possible.

“What happens next?”

“Now that Trenton is here, he plans on going after Dennis.”

Quinn gasped and clutched his forearm with her free hand.“Kyllian, no.He’s no match for a dire wolf. You can’t let him do this.”

“Sweetheart, Dennis killed your mother.Trenton needs to do this for his own peace of mind.”

“Dammit, Kyllian. He’s all I have in this world.I can’t lose him.”

Kyllian stiffened, and Quinn realized what she said.“No, that’s not true.I have you now. It’s going to take a while for it to sink in that it’s not just me and Dad anymore. It’s been just the two of us for so long.”Kyllian relaxed, so Quinn did too. This mate stuff was going to take some getting used to.

“You aren’t a pack of two now.You have me, Nikita, and a whole lotta Hounds.”

“I have Nikita? She doesn’t hate me?”During the hours of sitting in the cavern, she’d thought about what it would be like to have her daughter in her life. Both Nikita and Kyllian. It had been too much to hope for, but she still prayed to the goddess for it anyway.

“No, she doesn’t.Like I said, the girl is smart. She figured out Blake was lying about you abandoning her all those years ago.I told her the truth, and she was furious. She can’t wait to meet you.But before we go to her, we need to help Trenton see his vengeance through.”

“He’s not strong enough to fight a dire wolf and win.”

“That’s the thing about vengeance, Pretty Lady.It can come in many different forms. You saw what he did to the male on the cliff.”

“Henry. He and Bradley were both my uncles.Wait, are you saying Dad is going to snipe Dennis?”

“That’d be my guess.Trenton is smart enough to realize he can’t take him down with claws, and dead is dead.”

“Okay, that makes me feel better. When they took me to the lodge, I spoke to my grandmother, and I realized she’s stuck there.I have a feeling all the females are.If Dad takes out Dennis, that’s going to leave the pack without an Alpha. One of my other uncles might step into the role, but I don’t feel right about leaving her there with no way out.”

“That’s the good thing about having the Lazlos on your side.Remember when I told you my parents track down The Ministry?”Quinn nodded.“There are often people being held within the cult who don’t want to be there. My family gets them out, sets them up in therapy, offers training or school if needed.Things like that. With someone like your grandmother who’s always lived off-grid, they would find her a place within a household as a caretaker or cook.Something along those lines.Ifit’s what she wants. But Quinn, you have to be prepared for the possibility that she doesn’t want to leave. This is the only home she’s known for a lot of years. This is her family. Her kids and grandkids are here. And who knows?Without Dennis leading the pack, someone better might step into the role as Alpha.”

Quinn hadn’t thought of it that way.“You’re right. We’ll wait and see what happens.Give her the choice, and let her decide.”

“That’s my girl.”

Quinn’s heart swelled at Kyllian’s words. She was his.As frightened as she was about giving her heart away, it also excited her. After reading her mother’s journals, Quinn had prayed to the goddess for a love like her parents had.She never thought it would happen.Never thought she’d get over Blake’s betrayal, but her prayers had been answered, and her destined mate was there in the flesh.Quinn glanced over at her mate and took in all the flesh on display.

“Quinn,” Kyllian warned.

She didn’t have time to apologize – again – for admiring everything his god had given him.Kyllian pulled up alongside an SUV, and her father emerged from the passenger door, his smile as big as she’d ever seen.
