Chapter Twenty-One
Liam
“What’s got you so happy, my brother?” Logan asks after I sink another solid ball in the pocket on the pool table.
It’s been a couple weeks since Riley and I have said I love you. We have fallen into a routine. She comes over after work, we have dinner and hang out with Harper. At night time, we watch TV or just talk if we can make it that long without having sex. She’s kind of wild in the bedroom, I’m diggin’ it.
Riley insisted that she watch Harper so I can have a night out with the guys this weekend. Greyson set up a night for us at one of our favorite spots. Jackson almost bailed, claiming he had to work, I called his bullshit. We always work around his schedule. I told him to suck it up and come join us or I’ll tell our parents he’s playing house with a staff member who has a kid. That shut him up pretty fast.
“I’m happy because I’m kickin’ your ass right now,” I tell him.
His head falls back as he laughs at my shit talking. Logan is always the carefree one. Ready and willing to take our insults.
“Just you wait, I’ll make my comeback. But that’s not what I’m talkin about. You’re different, you seem happier these days. You get some pussy recently?” I narrow my eyes at him in warning. “What? That’s what would do it for me.” He throws his hands up.
Jackson looks at me with a smug grin on his face as he wiggles his eyebrows.
“What the fuck was that for?” Greyson says to Jackson. “What do you know that we don’t?”
“Seriously, dude?” I turn to Jackson.
“I didn’t fucking say anything!” he says in protest.
“You didn’t have to. It’s obvious you know something. Fess up, one of you! Who is it?” Logan says.
“Whatever. It shouldn’t be a secret now anyway.” I walk around the table to line up for my next shot. “Riley and I have been seeing each other.”
“Fuck you! No way!” Logan’s eyes open wide in shock.
Greyson doesn’t seem too surprised. He seems more entertained by Logan’s surprise and obvious jealousy. He wasn’t shy about how hot he thought she is, but he better stay the hell away unless he wants his ass kicked.
“Good for you, man. I’m happy for you,” Greyson says. “Right, Logan? Aren’t you so happy for Liam and Riley?” he smirks at him.
“Whatever dude. I was just surprised,” Logan tries to cover up.
“So, how’s it been going with her?” Greyson leans against the high top table next to me.
I take my shot and miss, not without seeing Logan’s smug face. He grabs his pool stick and happily walks around the table, looking for the best shot.
“It’s been amazing. We’ve just really clicked. She’s incredible with Harper and is the sweetest person I’ve ever met.”
“Sounds pretty serious,” Jackson chimes in.
“It is. I think we’re beyond just testing the waters here. We spend all of our time together.”
“You should bring her to family dinner tomorrow,” Greyson says.
“I’ve been thinking about it,” I admit.
“How do you think Mom and Dad will react?” Logan asks while leaning on his pool stick.
I think about it for a second. I've wondered the answer to this question and hope I'm accurate when I say, “I think they will be happy if I’m happy.”
I’m not completely confident in these words. I know there will be some shock there, but I’m hoping no judgement. It may take some time to get used to. My parents have always been very reasonable people. I can't see that changing in this circumstance. Peyton will be another story.
“Fuck 'em all if they give you shit. Do what makes you happy. You’ve been through enough,” Logan says. Leave it to him for the bluntdon't take any shitadvice.
“Well, I don’t know if I would put it like that,” Greyson laughs. “But I agree with what he is trying to say.”
