“Of course! I’ll let you know what day I am planning on taking her. It will probably be in two weeks since we are going to meet Shirley next week.”
“Good. I look forward to it.”
I continue to eat my dinner while taking in the scenery around me. Harper is still sound asleep, looking like an angel. It seems to be a habit of mine to look down and check on her every minute or so just to make sure she’s okay.
“How was work this week? Did you arrest any criminals?” I ask.
“You do know that I don’t arrest anyone, right? I just gather all the datatoarrest someone or bring them to court.”
“So, you generally work in the office?”
“Basically,” he responds before taking a bite of his halibut. I choose not to point out his little moan of appreciation for his food. Clearly he doesn’t know he did that.
“So, how do you stay in such good shape?” The question is out before I have the time to realize how bad it sounds. I can’t believe I just said that to him. I must still be thinking about his abs from this morning.Great, now I can’t stop picturing them!
He laughs at my question. “I didn’t know you noticed I was insuchgood shape.” I roll my eyes at his obvious gloating. He isn’t denying that he is in great shape. “I used to spend a lot of time in the gym, before Harper was born. Although, I haven’t seen the gym since she was born. I think I might need to put one in my basement. I don’t see my mornings or nights freeing up anytime soon.”
“That’s not a bad idea,” I tell him.
I try to not picture Liam shirtless as he works out in the gym, sweat dripping down his body. I really try, but it’s useless. My brain is determined to play this scene out in vivid detail.
