Chapter 10

ERIN

I stared from one man to the next, and then to the next. Was Henryk agreeing with Silas and Viktor? Or was he too polite to say what he was thinking—which probably matched what I was thinking?

“I can’t believe it.” I managed to splutter. “That would be like... every woman’s dream. You must be overrun with girls applying for the job as your girlfriend.”

Silas and Viktor burst out laughing, shaking their heads as though I was joking.

I wasn’t.

Being with both of them... at the same time? That would be like paradise!

“No, seriously,” I urged.

Silas grinned at me. “Well, no. We don’t. Why? Would you like to apply?”

I buried my head in my wine, taking another sip of Dutch courage before lifting my head and looking him straight in the eye. “It really depends.”

The humor disappeared from his expression, but he continued staring at me. “Depends on what?”

“Well,” I began, thinking how much I was probably going to regret this conversation in the morning, but pushing on regardless. “Depends on what you mean by dating both of you at once. Like... where would we all sleep? Together? All separate? Or would I bed hop each night?”

My face was literally on fire now, but this was really the part I wanted to know about. Would they have sex with me at the same time, or would I have to choose one or the other?

I glanced over at Henryk, but the prince was cutting up the strange-looking dessert and wasn’t looking my way. Probably on purpose, but I didn’t care at the moment.

When I looked back to Silas and Viktor, they were staring at each other, but not saying anything out loud. I could almost feel the conversation going on between them.

Finally, Silas looked at me and asked, “What would you prefer?”

Fuck.

How honest did I want to be?

I looked from Silas to Viktor, then back again. “Well, I’d want us all together, I suppose. I mean, I’ve never done a poly relationship before, but wouldn’t it be better to be together? Then no one would miss out.”

Silas grinned and Viktor nodded slowly. “Sounds like a plan to me.”

I chuckled and reached for some of the cakey roll thing that Henryk had cut up. “Deal.”

I glanced from Silas to Viktor, heat surrounding me. I was hot for these guys, and although I didn’t see myself falling into bed with them tonight, if there was a chance I could build a relationship with two such amazing men, I’d do it.

I decided that this year was the year the impossible became possible, and with this much wine fuzzing up my brain, I was starting to believe Viktor, Silas and Iwaspossible.

My gaze flicked up to the prince, and this time, I caught Henryk looking directly at me. There was an unreadable look in his eyes. “Hey...” I said, not sure what to say to him.

He tilted his head at me. “Hey.”

“This conversation must sound very strange to you,” I said, starting to ramble out of nerves. “Or maybe it isn’t, since poly marriages are common here.”

He coughed to clear his throat, a little red creeping up around his neck. “They aren’t common, but they are legal.”

“For the king as well?” I asked. “Could you do that, too? If you wanted.”

Henryk stared at me, his gaze now burning with strong emotion, something I hadn’t seen in his eyes before. The wine maybe? I still couldn’t read his mood.

“It’s not preferred,” he hedged.
