Bash
I’vebeenpoundingon her door for twenty minutes with no answer. I fucking know something is wrong, I feel it in my gut. I look over to Knox’s apartment before stomping over and pounding on his door as if I were the police.
“Open the fuck up, Knox!” I belt, my impatience shining through. I would’ve already been in her apartment, but I didn’t have a key and I know he does. But if he doesn’t hurry the fuck up, I’m breaking her damn door down.
I’m just turning back towards Arizona’s apartment to do just that when Knox’s door comes flying open with a fuming Knox standing there.
“What the everloving hell Bash?” he yells, before stepping back, as if he’s realized he just charged the bear that could tear his ass apart.
“Watch yourself boy, I’m knockin’ because Arizona isn’t answering her door and I’ve been beating on it for almost a half hour now.” I tell him, getting right up in his face, bearing my teeth at him like a rabid dog.
“She’s probably still asleep, she did work late at the club, Bash.” he says looking at me like I’m stupid or don’t know her shift, it’s our MC’s fucking club.
“I get that, I’m not a fuckin’ idiot. She still should’ve answered the door, so give me her key so I can check on her.”
He reaches up, running his fingers through his hair, tugging lightly on the ends before turning back into his apartment and walking over to a table by the door, snatching his keys up in his hand.
“Man, I’m telling you she’s probably out cold, our girl is a hard sleeper, especially after working all night. It’s why I haven’t gone over yet. Unless she has classes, she sleeps until ten or eleven in the morning, then we’d have coffee. Oh wait, you wouldn’t know that, you fucking hid behind the age card.”
I fight the idea of ripping his heart out through his throat at his sucker punch of a comment. Taking a deep breath, I clench my teeth together tightly as I force out, “I would watch your mouth boy, I’d hate to piss off my girl by killin’ your ass. If I remember, you were a bit of an idiot as well.” I allow a small victory smile to cross my face as I see his back straighten at my threat. Fucker’ll watch what he has to say next time.
He heads off in the direction of what I assume to be Arizona’s bedroom as my attention catches an envelope on the table, with four names scribbled across it in the most elegant cursive handwriting. Stepping slowly over to the table I pick it up and open it, not wanting to wait. I read each word, rage overtaking me at her leaving when we just got on the same page. Why didn’t she tell me, hell any of us, what was going on?
I look up when I hear footsteps coming back into the room.
“She’s not here man, it’s fucking weird her bed doesn’t look like she slept in it. I checked out the window and her car isn’t in the parking lot, did you not notice that when you came in? She probably went to check on Jace."
“I don’t think she’s with Jace.” I stretch my arm out, handing the note to him. Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I send a message in our group chat between the guys, telling them to get their ass over here ASAP. We need to get our girl back.
The next hour seems to last forever, waiting on Draco and Jace. I’ve paced the floor so many times, there should be a visible path worn into the carpet.
Jace is the first to arrive, followed shortly by Draco. Jace comes in demanding to know what the hell is going on, but only wanting to go over everything once, I make him wait.
Once they are both present and seated, I hand the note to them and resume my pacing. Processing everything she wrote, trying to get into her mindframe.
“She fucking left, after all we’ve done to give her what she wanted, a relationship with all of us.” Draco spits out, jumping up from the couch and heading for the door. “Fuck this, I’m out of here. First she sees that,” He stretches his arm out and points towards Knox, “one when she’s in a contract with me, then she ducks out in the middle of the night like a chickenshit, afraid to tell us to our face. Fuck her. I’m out of here.” He charges toward the door, before I can stop him Knox, of all people, speaks up.
“Are you a damn idiot? Did you read the same note as me? She felt she didn’t have a choice, like she’s being coerced into something. I don’t know if she’s mentioned it to you, but I know she said it repeatedly to me, never elaborating but always saying she would be gone in a year, something she had no control over, she couldn’t change it, her life was already planned. Or wait, am I the only asshole who actually listened to her?”
Draco stops, freezing in his spot except for the sole movement to turn around and face us. A pensive look etched on his face.
“She did mention it a couple of times. I just never gave it much thought, thinking she was just rambling or using it as a safety measure if things didn’t work out.” Draco announces before looking around at all of us, concerned. “Do you think she’s in trouble?” The wheels begin to turn in his head, the anger in the moment washes away and his sense of reason returns. “We need to find her.”
I watch as he pulls his phone from his pocket, hitting a button on this phone, which must be programmed into a speed dial. It's only a minute before someone answers, but he never gives them a chance to talk, spitting out what he wants into the phone to the person on the other end. “I need every bit of information you found on Arianna Racanelli emailed to me, now.” He hangs up and looks around at us. “Did she take anything with her, her car? I know I didn’t see it in the parking lot.”
I pull out my phone as well, calling Earl, who picks up on the third ring. I know he had plans to be at the diner this morning to see Melissa, I hope I caught him before he left, they need to patch their shit up pronto.
“What!”Earl, says pissed off into the phone once he picks up, not even giving me a chance.
“I’ve got a situation and I may need the club to step in to help me handle it. But right now, I need a prospect you trust to bring my laptop to Arizona’s apartment as fast as he can.”
“You got it man, I’ll send Jake. The club is always there for you, no questions. Is Arizona okay? I’m assuming it has to do with her.”
“I don’t know man, we’re still trying to sort that out, I’ll let you know once we're sure.” I hang up the phone, knowing no more needs to be said. My brother’s will have my back.
“Nothing, her closets are full of clothes, the only thing missing is her and her car.” Knox informs us.
“When my laptop gets here, I’m hacking into the CCTV for the city to see if I can get footage of her leaving and track where and what direction she went. I’m also going to check the bus, train and airline stations to see if she purchased a ticket. I didn’t finally get her to lose her like this.”
