We’ve been sitting in the waiting room for hours, and nothing. Each time we go to get an update, all we get is that they’re still in surgery and once the doctor is done he will be out to talk to us. Bash’s phone begins ringing and he picks up, telling whoever is on the line he will meet them downstairs.

“I’ll be right back, the guys are downstairs with Ash.” We both stand when he tells us that. “Sit back down and wait here please. I should only be there a few minutes, but the doctor could come out at any time and someone needs to be here.” Knowing he’s right I sit down first, followed by Vee.

Fifteen minutes later, Bash comes back through the door followed by Ash, surrounded by her men and a slew of other bikers. I rush to her, hugging her close. Vee wraps her arms around the both of us and we stand there like that, the men talking around us but I’m not able to make out any of what they are saying, so overwhelmed by everything that has transpired tonight.

We finally release our hold on Ash and she is whisked away by her band of men to a secluded corner and we return to ours. Vee and I sit there in silence holding each other’s hands, watching the hands on the clock move slowly.

Our attention is pulled to the opening of the double doors and the group of doctors in green scrubs moving towards us. Almost as if we knew they were for us, we started moving together, standing as a unified group. The doctor's faces are void of expression.

The doctor in the front looks around at the number of people waiting in our group.

“Are you with Jace Collins and Hank Masters?”

A resounding, “Yes” comes from everyone.

“How are they?” Ash asks meekly.

“Why don’t you all follow us to a more private area to talk.” the doctor states glumly and my stomach drops.

“Sir, here is fine. As you can see there are alot of us and we’re all family, some by blood and some by choice. We all want and need to know what happened, so here is better than any private room.”
