I look at him in shock for a moment. Yes, the thought was considerate of him, but his delivery is poor and lacking which has me a little fucking upset and I respond in my typical fashion.
“You want to see my clean bill of health? You fucked me without a condom, then worry I may infect you with something? Little late to worry about that dont’cha think? Yes I’m clean, need me to go get tested and prove it? Fine, I’ll do it tomorrow. Now leave me the hell alone,” I spit out, dismissing him. I don’t even know why I’m fucking angry other than the fact he ignored me. That shit pisses me off, fuck a girl then pretend like she doesn’t exist.
“Arizona, I didn't mean…” he starts to say before I cut him off.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll get tested tomorrow, then get those results right to you. Now, if you could please leave, I need to get ready for my set.” I turn back around and continue to flat iron my hair, choosing to ignore his continued presence behind me until he gets the picture and I hear his heavy steps move away.
The night passes by in a blur. Bash didn’t try to talk to me again, but it didn’t mean his eyes weren’t on me the entire night, up until I saw him walking out the door around one in the morning with a couple of Ash’s men. It felt as if he was shooting daggers at me the entire night, so I gladly returned the same look. When he walked out a piece of me relaxed, not having to keep the tough demeanor up any longer.
Hank was right when he said it was a full house, and it stayed that way all night. I was taking a breather standing at the bar talking to Vee, getting some much needed water when I felt someone step up beside me, placing their hand on my ass.
“You suree wazzz goood upppppp theerreee.” comes out with slurred speech and the most rancid breath, washing over my neck.
“Thank you, but I would get your hand off my ass right now.” I try to say to him calmly but when he doesn’t listen I get louder.
“I SAID TO GET YOUR FUCKING HANDS OFF OF ME!”
“Commneee onn babbyyy, I juussss wannn a dannce. I can showw you a goood tiiime.” he continues, making my stomach roll in disgust.
“THE WOMAN SAID GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF HER!” comes from a powerful voice and one I recognize, just as the hand disappears from my ass and the man howls in pain.
“Carlos, can you get this drunk-ass fucker out of here? If he fights back, then beat his ass.” Jace says as he hands the man over to Carlos who now has an extremely pissed off Hank helping drag him out. I also saw the head punch Jace delivered when the man attempted to talk back.
“My hero.” I say bringing my hands up to my face and swoon like I’ve seen the girls do in all those old western movies my roommate in college made me watch. She was freaking certifiably insane over John Wayne.
“Oh shucks, ma’am.” he says, almost like he knows what I was mimicking,
“Some men don’t know how to show a woman respect. We don’t allow that in this club. Besides the known, 'don’t touch the staff' policy. You told him no. The drunk ass should have listened. I hope he fights back, so the boys can beat the shit out of him and then he has to explain to his wife what happened.” Jace continues, moving closer to me, and leaning forward over the counter.
“What makes you think he’s married?” Fuck, is this man some kind of psychic?
“Cause I’m an observant person, dancin’ girl. He had a wedding band on. So odds are pretty good. When is your shift over?”
I glance over at the watch on his wrist, squinting my eyes to make out where the numbers are because he has one that’s not digital. “Shit, in about thirty minutes actually.”
“So, I was wonderin’ and you can totally say no, but how about I grab some food, head to your place and we watch a movie on Netflix?”
“Oh, you want to Netflix and Chill?” I ask, giving him a knowing look.
“No, no, no not like that, unless you want the chill part. I just want to hang out.” His eyes sparkling with laughter as he says it.
“You know what, the last twenty-four hours have been absolute shit, some food and a movie sounds good. Vee, can I have a pen?” She hands me a pen and I take a napkin, writing my address down and hand it to him. He never glances at it, only sliding it into his pocket, like he already knows it.
“Okay dancin’ girl, see you there.” he says before turning and heading off towards the front door.
“Girl, that’s a good one. You need to stake your claim before he’s gone.” Vee interjects, interrupting me from drinking in the view of his ass in those tight as fuck jeans as he walks away. Turning back around, I see the guy and his friend who I’ve noticed have been parked at the bar in front of Vee for the last few hours.
The taller and more muscular one, raises his eyebrows at me suggestively, his lips turning up in a smile, reminding me of Joey from Friends. I can hear the dude saying his trademark line in my head. The other one though has me doing a double take, something about him looks familiar.
I shake it off and make my rounds, seeing if anyone wants a lap or private dance before heading to the back to change. Normally I take my time to remove the makeup and glitter, tonight I change in record speed and I’m out the door, only throwing my arm up in a wave as I go.
Ideas of a quick shower are thrown out the door when I get upstairs and see Jace already leaning there with bags of food in his hand and a six pack of beer. I can't fight the way my eyes brighten and light up with joy taking in the view of him standing there.
“I have chinese, I hope you’re hungry.” he tells me holding the bag higher in the air.
“How the hell did you get chinese food at this time of night?” I ask in shock and hell, a little awe at his ability to do so.
“I know people, and who can turn down this face.” he tells me, with a lopsided grin.
