Vee: Ash is missing!!!! When was the last time you saw her?

Vee: CALL ME!!!!!

The messages go on and on. I don’t even check the voicemails, I just call her.

She picks up on the first ring and I can hear her uncontrollable sobbing coming through the line, making it hard to understand most of her broken words.

“Vee, please calm down. My phone was turned off. What do you mean Ash is missing? Have the cops been called?” I ask, trying to stay calm but finding it difficult.

“Ash was taken last night. She was abducted out of the parking lot. She had a fucking stalker.” I manage to make out from what she is saying through hysterical crying.

“Okay, so what are the cops doing?” I ask again, hoping for an answer this time. I try to think back over the night and if anything looked off, or if anyone seemed suspicious but I draw a blank.

“Arizona, she dates bikers. They won’t involve the cops, because they’ll handle it and the person responsible will vanish. They’re good people, but they don’t follow the rules of the law. It also turns out she’s Earl’s daughter, one he never knew about. When they find her, there is going to be an explosion.”

“So you’re telling me she was kidnapped and no one is notifying the police and everyone is okay with that. Fuck that, I’m calling them.”

“No, you can’t. You do that and you are as good as dead yourself, it doesn’t matter how much they like you. They live above the law, trust me, they will find her before the police could ever wrap their heads around the fact she was taken. Just be careful, please. I've got to go, Luke is here.” She tells me just before the line goes dead.

I drop the phone to the counter and slip to the floor, slamming my knees into the tiles just as Draco comes rushing into the room. He kneels down and puts his arms around me, cradling me as he comforts me blindly, not even knowing what’s happening. I don’t realize until this point that I'm bawling like a baby.

How the hell is this happening? How do I come to terms that everyone is okay with not calling the cops? My friend is missing!
