“Do they really need to know the truth about her?” Christopher says again as he starts laughing.
So I guess this is how he truly feels. No one ever said I wanted to meet his family, but is he that ashamed of me being a stripper? And you better fucking believe I’m a good lay, best I bet he’s ever had. My anger rises as I move towards the stairs and head down running into them, putting an end to their conversation. Let’s see if he tries to talk his way out of this, he has to know I overheard.
“Hey babe, how are you?” Knox says as he leans in to give me a kiss, as Christopher continues past us, opening the door to Knox’s apartment, disappearing inside.
You have got to be fucking kidding me! This is how he’s going to play it, like he didn’t just say shit about me two fucking seconds ago?
Pulling away from him, I push past him, making sure to bump his shoulder as I go.
“I’m peachy keen, got to go show my tits and ass and make some money.” I make sure to holler back as I make my way to my car.
“Ari,” I hear him call out to me, his footsteps hitting the pavement as he comes up behind me.
“Ari, wait. What’s wrong?” he asks, when I turn around to face him.
“Not a damn thing. Shouldn’t you run back and be with your friend? I’m running late and I need to go, I don’t have time for this.” I unlock my door and climb inside the car. Starting the engine, I back out of the spot before taking off. I turn my head just as I pull on the road, taking one last look back at Knox to see him standing in the same place where I left him.
Today is going to be a shit day.
