"Tick-tock," Gabriele said as he took a step toward me. "Yes or no?"

"I can't kill anyone," I said, shaking my head. "That's never something I'm going to do."

Gabriele raised a brow at me. "Are you telling me what you will and won't do? Do you remember you're the one that owes the money and I'm the one in charge?"

My eyes narrowed. "I don't care. I'm not going to steal someone else's life for my own. So, if you're going to kill me then do it. But that's a line I'm not going to cross."

Gabriele looked me up and down before he let out a short laugh. "You have a ton of balls," he said as he stepped closer to me, once again invading my space. "I like that. But not directed toward me. I need an answer, Calix. And this thing is my rules, my way."

I gritted my teeth. "I won't kill."

Gabriele grabbed me by the front of my shirt and yanked me forward sharply. I reached up, my hand wrapping around his wrist as I dug my nails into his skin. He didn't even flinch as I glared at him.

"I said what I had to say," I ground out. "You can make me do anything else, but if you expect me to kill an innocent person, then you might as well kill me now," I said as my heart raced. "Because I won't do it. That's the only thing I'm asking."

Gabriele scoffed. "You're so naive. There's no such thing as innocence." When I didn't waver, he released me. "Fine. Be ready by tomorrow." He looked me up and down. "Dress better than that. I have a reputation to uphold."

I glanced down at my gray sweats and a black t-shirt. What's wrong with the way I'm dressed? By the time I looked up again, Gabriele was drinking down the rest of his coffee. He nodded toward me and sat the mug in the sink.

"Eight tomorrow night. Don't keep me waiting," he said as he turned on his heels. "I'll let myself out."

I stared after him until he disappeared. Shortly after, the door closed and I was finally able to draw in a proper breath.

"Jesucristo," I muttered. "Fuck!"

There was no escaping the psychopath that was Gabriele Bianchi. No matter what, tomorrow night I was going to be his little bitch.

And there was nowhere to run.
