"Melissa, right?" I asked as I gazed at the picture. "She would fetch a good amount if I sold her. Yeah, I could erase your debt for her."

"Gabriele," Calix choked out.

I held up a hand and looked at Seth. "What do you say?"

He shook his head. "W-what would she have to do?"

I grinned. "I think we both know the answer to that, Seth. Besides, that would be none of my problem. Whoever purchased her could do whatever they wanted. But your debt would be gone."

Seth opened his mouth and closed it again before he closed his eyes. "Okay," he said shakily. "But I don't owe you a dime anymore, okay?"

I nodded. "Fair trade," I said as I stuck out my hand.

Seth shook it and I waved a hand. "Let him go."

Calix stared at me in shock before he finally released the man. We both watched as Seth started to scurry away before he turned back around to us.

"Um, if she would get so much money, can't I have some of it? I-I'm losing a daughter after all."

I laughed, the sound threatening even to my ears. "Disappear, Seth. Before I feel the need to bash your brains in, you parasitic fuckin' maggot."

Seth turned and ran away so fast he slipped and ate dirt. He picked himself up and kept running, scurrying right back into the bar that we'd snatched him out of. I shook my head until I was shoved and I stumbled back.

"What the fuck?" Calix asked, his face red with rage. "What the fuck was that!"

"Right," I said as I dug out my phone and dialed a number. I waited until my call was answered. "I need Melissa Hills picked up and taken to a new location. No, give her a good apartment, one of the ones under our name. If he's willing to sell her to us, I guarantee he's tried it before. Yeah. Look for next of kin."

"What the fuck!" Calix shouted once I hung up.

I slipped a cigarette out of the pack and lit it up before I exhaled smoke into the night air. "I told you before, Calix. Men like this aren't good people. They're not victims. You saw how quick he was to hand his daughter over even though he knew what would happen to her? Seth Hills is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the goddamn scumbags I deal with." I shrugged. "You needed to see who he really was. Maybe next time, you won't hesitate to do what needs to be done."

Calix frowned. "W-what? But he might be the only one who would-"

"He's not," I interrupted. "Eventually, I give all these non-paying douchebags the option to sell their children, wives, mothers. And they all take me up on it. They want all the benefits without any of the consequences. Men like that? There's no hope for them."

Calix swallowed thickly. "The girl... You're not really going to sell her. Are you?"

I shook my head. "Fuck no. I don't deal in that shit. The whores we own are legal age and always will be. Amadeo would skin me alive if I even tried some disgusting shit like that and I would off myself if I ever even had a thought like that. I might be a murderer, but I'm not a pedo." I adjusted my suit jacket and nodded toward the car. "Now, move your ass. We've got more work to do."

Calix stared at me and I saw emotions flash over his face one after the other. Finally, he started to move, but he was quiet. I stopped him when we reached the car and laid a hand on his chest.

"Oh and if you ever push me like that again? I'll kick your ass."

He groaned. "You weren't an asshole for two whole minutes."

"Yeah, two. See that? It was a world goddamn record."

"I hate you."

As we climbed into the car, I chuckled before I winked at him. "Whatever you say, mutt."

As Calix protested, I pulled out of the parking lot. When I glanced back, I saw into the bar where Seth stood at the counter and ordered another probably shitty beer.

Enjoy it while you can, asshole. Soon you won't drink anything ever again.

Some festering limbs needed to be cut off completely. And Seth Hills was a gangrenous pile of flesh just waiting to be sliced away.
