"Hey!"Six's loud mouth cut through the chatter of the gym as he walked in with his bag slung over his shoulder. "Where have you been?"
I forced myself to put on a fake smile, but it was an uneasy one. The last week I'd spent hiding out. I knew I couldn't get away from Gabriele forever, but I needed space. My eyes darted around the gym, looking for him, but he was nowhere to be found. Amadeo stood nearby, watching over Six, but I'd gotten used to his presence.
"Around," I said, finally answering Six.
He raised a brow. "What kind of fucking answer is that? You found a boyfriend or something finally?"
I paled and shook my head. "Hell no," I spat. "I don't want or need that."
Six let out a laugh. "Okay, something is going on with you," he said as he put his bag down and nodded. "How's the hand?"
"It's good now. All healed up," I said before I froze. "How did you know about my hand?"
"Gabriele told us a few days ago that you had to get some stitches."
I frowned. Gabriele was talking about me? My heart did flip-flops in my chest and I wanted to slap myself. Of course, he was talking about me! He was probably telling Amadeo why he couldn't harass me lately.
"Oh," I said as I moved over to a punching bag and held it steady. "Well, I'm all good now."
Six nodded and pushed his bag to the side before he raised his fists. We always started off with the same warm-up and he was getting better. I held onto the bag as he delivered a powerful jab to it.
"Good form," I told him. “Go again.”
"Thanks,” he grunted as he took another swing. “It's all because of you," he said before he paused to reach down and grab his water bottle. "So? What's it like?"
"What's what like?"
"You know, working with Gabriele. I know Amadeo put you two together. He's not being a dick is he?"
"Only every second of every day," I muttered.
Six frowned. "Gabriele? You're sure? He was always cool to me at Ama’s. I mean he's still cool now, but lately, he's been cranky with this whole thing they're trying to figure out and having to babysit you as he calls it."
I gritted my teeth, my jaw ticking with irritation. "No one asked him to babysit me," I said. "He could let me pay the shit off my way."
Six shook his head. "He can't, Amadeo's orders." Six glanced over at Amadeo and smiled. The man barely raised a brow and Six turned back toward me. "I better shut up before he realizes I'm talking about him. That man gets so testy if he thinks I'm talking too much, but it's just you.”
"There's also the fact that I don't want to know what's going on with the Bianchi's. The less I know, the less chance I'll get implicated in their bullshit."
"Don't think that's how it works at this point, but I guess," Six said with a shrug before he grinned a little. "At least he's good to look at right? The Bianchi's might be crazy, but I haven't met a single one of them that wasn't hot as fuck. If I wasn't with Amadeo..."
"What was that?"
Both of us jumped. Amadeo had suddenly appeared out of thin air behind Six and I hadn't even seen him walk up. I swallowed thickly and Six swore under his breath.
"N-nothing, Daddy," Six said in a sing-song voice. "I was only kidding around."
Amadeo crossed his arms over his chest. "Pack up your things. We're leaving early," he said shortly before he reached into his jacket and pulled out some cash. He handed it to me. "For today's session. I won't cheat you out of money because Six can't control his mouth."
Six gulped like a cartoon character. "Save me," he whispered.
I gave him an expression that said what the fuck am I supposed to do? Amadeo grabbed his arm and I watched as my friend was dragged out of the gym. Shaking my head, I headed back to the office.
Six had called Amadeo Daddy and it threw me right back into bed with Gabriele. The haze of pain medicine had taken over after I blew my load, but I could still remember the way he loomed over me, teasing and tormenting me until I gave in. He was a brute of a man, but damn did I come hard when he touched me.
I groaned and put my face in my hands. "I don't need to be focusing on that shit right now!"
