He raised his eyebrows and lowered his gaze. “Your captain couldn’t seem to keep her head straight out there tonight.”

He wanted to rattle me.

He wanted to make me say something crappy about my captain.

“Murray, we all have our off nights. Every single one of us, for whatever reason. Our captain is a world-class player. No one can deny that. We were more than fortunate that Cami came in and gave it her all.”

“And now you’re in the playoffs. How does that feel?”

I didn’t think I could smile any bigger. “It feels like the best thing in the world right now. I’m so lucky to be here with this great group of women, playing the best game in the world.”

He smiled broadly at me. “Congratulations, to you and the rest of the team. We can’t wait to watch you guys in the playoffs.”
