“That’s good since the only reason I did it was so maybe you’d watch. I wasn’t sure if you’d ever speak to me again, otherwise.”

She smiled, her pink lips looking far too inviting. “I’m talking to you.”

I nodded. “I wasn’t sure what you’d do after I put myself in rehab.”

Her eyes fell to my lips. “I think that was a very brave thing to do.”

“It’s not a cure, Lex,” I said, making sure she understood that.

Her eyes landed on mine. “I know.”

Yeah.

Out of anyone in the world, Lexi Hunter would definitely know that. “I can’t make any guarantees.”

She nodded slowly. “I know that, too. But, I’m willing to try if you are.”

That was it.

I captured her lips with mine and kissed her. “Fuck, I missed you,” I said, loving her bubble gum kisses, and the way her body always melted right into mine.

“Not as much as I missed you.”

“Impossible, I missed you more.”

I felt a tap on my shoulder, and then a woman’s voice said, “Sheesh, you, two.”

Then another woman said, “Get a room.”

Somehow, I ripped my lips off my wife and we turned to see Gigi and Jillian standing beside us.

“We’re waiting for our turn, but Lexi’s hogging you all to herself,” Gigi said with a smirk.

I set Lexi down and she let go of me.

Gigi stepped up first and said, “I’m going to hug you because I’m so glad you’re okay,” she inhaled a shaky breath. “And then I’m going to kick your ass for not asking for help sooner.”

She got maybe half of the sentence out before the tears started falling down her face.

I pulled her in for a hug. “I’m sorry, Gigi. Just be careful of my ass. I’ve been working out a lot, so it’s like steel. Don’t hurt your foot.”

She laughed and backed away. “I’ll keep that in mind.” Gigi used her fingers to wipe under her eyes. “I’ll let you have tonight with your wife. But tomorrow,” she pointed her finger into my chest, “we talk.”

I grabbed her in for one more quick hug. “Sounds good. How are all the puppies?”

She gave me a quick squeeze. “They miss you, too.”

We let each other go, and then Jillian stepped in for a hug. “You look like you again. Finally,” she said and it broke my heart.

“Thanks, Jillian. I finally feel like me, again.”

She nodded and looked up at me. “I’m so proud of you,” she said with watery eyes, “I mean, I’m going to kick your ass, too, after Gigi takes her turn. But I’ve never been more proud to call someone my friend.”

I shut my eyes tight and hugged her. “That means a lot coming from you.”

Jillian stepped away, and Beau moved forward. I hadn’t seen him until now.

He stuck his hand out. “You looked amazing out there tonight, Turner,” my friend said to me.
