Connor laughs and raises his eyebrows at me. “Is that so?”

I can’t help the blush that comes over my face. “Maybe.”

Connor and Rob both laugh, so I glare over at them. “Shut up. C’mon on back Connor. You can be my first customer since I’ve been back.”

He holds his arm out like he is escorting me back. “I’d be honored.”

???

When I get off work, I see I have a text from Eric.

Emory’s Hot Dad: How was your first day back? Did you get into any fist fights?

Me: Ha Ha very funny. It was actually really busy. A whole fraternity came in to get bonding tattoos or something.

Emory’s Hot Dad: You gave them to them? Where did they need these supposed bonding tattoos at?

Me: Wherever they wanted it. Arm, chest, other places.

Emory’s Hot Dad: Are you sure you’re better? Maybe you can just stay at my place a little longer. You don’t need to be going to work yet.

Me: Nice try. Speaking of your place though. All my cousins want to get together now that I’m better just to come see me and check in. I told them all to come to my place, but Emory suggested we could get together at your house since there’s the pool and everything. I wanted to ask you first though.

Emory’s Hot Dad: Of course, no problem. When?

Me: Friday. Will you be back by then?

Emory’s Hot Dad: I should be, but it might be late. I’m driving back after everything is wrapped up on Friday.

Me: Good can’t wait.

Emory’s Hot Dad: Me either.

Me: You didn’t watch our show without me did you?

Emory’s Hot Dad: I wouldn’t dream of it. Why did you ask? Seems suspicious. Did you Netflix cheat on me?

Me: Hmmm....if I can cheat, does this mean we’re Netflix official?

Suddenly my phone is ringing with a video call from Eric. I panic for a second. I am extra bummish today because I didn’t think I’d be seeing anyone when I got off work. I don’t have any makeup on, my hair is up in a sloppy bun, and I have on my old, ratty but extremely comfy sweatshirt that I’ve had since high school.

Not that Eric hasn’t seen me that way before. I have been laying around his couch for the past five weeks, but I always knew I was going to see him so I would try to make myself look at least somewhat presentable.

I can’t just ignore the call. He knows I just had my phone in my hands since I just texted back a few seconds ago. I click accept. “Hey?” I ask confused.

Of course he looks super sexy like usual in his T-shirt leaning against his hotel bed headboard. “Hi. Why do you not sound happy to see me?”

I laugh. “No, it’s not that. I just wasn’t expecting you to call. You know us young kids usually just text.”

He laughs harder at that, and I love how cute he looks when he smiles. “I video called. Isn’t that more high tech than calling?”

I tap my chin pretending to think. “Pretty sure the only people who video call me are my grandparents.”

He places his hand over his heart. “Ouch. I’m not that old yet.” Then he opens his eyes wide. “Wait, Emory’s not…”

I laugh even harder. “God no.” Then I pause. “Well, not that I know of. You never know with the way they keep going at it.” I smile back at him. “For real, why are you calling?”

He just grins. “I just wanted to see you.”
