I moaned even louder.
I closed my eyes and gave into the energy pulsing inside my body.
Logan took turns rubbing his beard down my neck, over my chest, before laving at my skin with swirling strokes of his tongue.
Oh, yes, more.
The shadows behind my eyes became vivid images. A man with bronzed skin and storming Gray Eyes leaned closer, enveloping me in the darkness. Logan’s hands became his as his scarred arms stripped me from the cliff.
I gasped. Gray Eyes gleamed before me with bright silver streaks piercing the darkness. His palms scored up my torso to the top of my shirt. His right palm, seared with an onyx black marking, caressed down my cheek. His thumb prowled over my bottom lip. “Elskan mín.”
I jerked my eyes open, involuntarily shuddering. The fevered excitement I was riding seconds before was painfully ripped away. The dreams were tearing into my reality. They didn’t want to be held back, just like the light inside me. They wanted free roam of my mind, my body.
I stilled in terror, looking up at Logan.
His hands were splayed under my shirt, stroking over my sports bra. He pulled his head swiftly away from the nape of my neck and paused.
“What’s wrong?”
“I… don’t know,” I said. My bottom lip quivered against my will.
I couldn’t even touch another man without seeing Gray Eyes. Whatever is happening to me is getting stronger by the day.
Logan skimmed his hands out from underneath my shirt and eased his hips away from mine, lowering my feet to the ground.
My shoulders quaked.
I’ll never be able to touch someone without be haunted.
He put his warm palms against my cheeks and stared down at me. “Did I do something you didn’t like?” he asked gently.
“No. It’s my fault. I wanted to kiss you.” I swallowed. “It felt really good. I just freaked out.”
Maybe this curse is good. It’s stopping me from something I’d regret. I’m supposed to be protecting Logan, not wrapping myself around him.
“It’s okay.” He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. “You wanted a kiss, and I picked you up and pinned you to the cliff.” He grunted. “Sorry about that. Are you okay? I mean, I didn’t hurt you from after yesterday’s injuries and all?”
“You didn’t hurt me. I liked it,” I mumbled. “I mean, before I panicked, I really liked it.”
A laughed rolled from his chest. “Now it really is time to sleep. We need to wake up early.”
I nodded. “Sounds good.”
Logan slowly reached out for my hand and gently grasped my fingers in his. He seemed to be trying to not break me. I didn’t want to be handled with care. I liked Logan better when he wasn’t being careful with me.
I grabbed my pack and rummaged for my toothbrush, wiping the dirt off of my face and arms before brushing my teeth. I pulled a long-sleeved shirt over my head and turned to find my sleeping bag.
Logan unrolled a ground pad and then set his sleeping bag on top of it. I watched and looked on in envy. Another cold chill racked my body as I unrolled my sleeping bag.
“You’re freezing again,” he said.
“Uh, no,” I lied, quickly getting into the sleeping bag.
I really didn’t need him to take care of me.
“All of your heat is going to go into the ground.”
“No, I’m fine,” I said before my teeth chattered.
