“Tanner I’m not sure you even love me if you won’t at least think about it, it looks like a lot of fun,” Franny tells him and he just grunts.

“Anyway, this building here is the one that Scarlett says she used to take the Mage his food. He’s probably still chained up in there because they’re magic chains and they would have to take them off to move him. Or at least that’s what she thinks,” Alec explains pointing to the shed that’s kind of off on its own not far from the house.

It makes sense that they’d want to keep the main source of their power close by in case of attack or emergency. The problem is, Jade could be in any of the other buildings or in the house for that matter and it would take us hours to search each one. It also makes it difficult for us to sneak in and free the Mage when he’s so close to the house without being noticed.

“So I’m thinking if a vampire can zoom me to the Mage, once I have him unchained from the coven the vampire could zoom us back or give you the signal to attack,” Franny muses out loud.

It’s not a bad plan. It would be stealthy and wouldn’t risk Jade’s life. On the other hand it would leave the rest of us waiting for who knows how long and I’d like to get to my mate as soon as possible.

“I think that’s a good plan, I’m going to use my camo and come with,” Dell says confidently.

“How? You can’t keep up with vamp zooms,” Jace comments, making a good point. I know that Dell has a lot of skill but as far as I know she can’t zoom.

“Don’t be a dumbass, we have two vampires, one can carry Franny and the other can carry me. That way I can protect her while she works her magic,” Dell explains her logic, and it does make me feel a little better knowing she’d be on the front line. I’m more than willing to fight for my mate but Dell is a trained assassin.

“I know you’re upset Delphina but there’s no need for name calling,” Darius comments while strolling into the room.

“You’re right, sorry Jace,” Dell mumbles an apology under her breath. I know she’s just as worried about Jade as the rest of us so it’s understandable she’d be emotional right now.

“I called Vikrim, he and Ruby will be here with the girls soon if you don’t mind the twins staying at the pack house,” Dar says walking over to Bellamy who’s seated on the couch next to Jace.

“What are you doing?” Bell asks, leaning away from the vampire.

“I’m just checking your wound, it looked awful last night. I don’t want it to get infected since it’s so close to your brain,” Darius tells him, gently running his fingers over the dark colored spot, making Bell close his eyes and shutter slightly from the touch.

“How is this hot?” Franny whispers under her breath, and I have to agree. Something about the two of them is straight fire, too bad we don’t have time to explore it now.

“It looks okay, though since it’s healing human slow you might want to try some ice to help the swelling,” Darius tells him, before zooming out and back in with an ice pack from the freezer in his hand.

“Thanks,” Bellamy says, taking the gift, his cheeks turning red when he notices all of us staring back and forth between them.

“The cubs will be safe here, Bellamy will protect them and the pack,” I say knowing that it’s going to cause my Beta to flip out.

“I’m not staying behind!” he shouts, jumping from his seat and wobbling but still glaring at me all the same.

“You’re injured, and the pack needs protection too. So you’ll do as I say and stay behind tonight. Or do you not trust Jace, Darius and I to get our mate back?” I challenge, throwing some Alpha weight behind it.

“It’s not that I don’t trust you—”

“Good then you’ll protect the pack and anyone else in the house while we’re gone,” I tell him, leaving no room for argument.

“The vampire plan will work because I should be able to camo all of us as we make our way into the compound. Not even the witches will be able to detect us,” Dell states, and the rest of us just nod.

If I have to follow anyones lead to rescue my mate, I’m glad that it’s Umbra.

“Has anyone seen Ivan?”

Chapter Twenty-Nine

IVAN

Franny is gonna be pissed when she finds out what I’m doing, but I just don’t want us going in blind, and besides I’m her mate so I know exactly what Mage magic feels like.

It’s just too bad I can’t shit on any of these bitches this time around.

The wind is cool as I cut through the sky heading south. I haven’t had much time in this area so I don’t know city names but I know I’m on the outskirts of Denver. I can feel the Mage magic like a dirty pulse through the air, and it’s getting stronger with every flap of my wings.

Using it is like a homing beacon, I veer left flying over a few miles of thick forest before I feel like I’m gonna be sick. The smell of black magic is awful, why anyone would want to live in that smell I have no fucking clue. Are their noses dead on their faces?
