“Our child,” Jace comments, his tone leaving no room for argument.
“Yes Jace, our child,” I tell him, and I expect things to feel weird looking into his blue eyes but they don’t. I mean I’ve only spent a few hours in his company, so he should still feel like a stranger, but he just feels like mine. Even without the bond.
“Thank you,” Silas comments, his voice filled with emotion.
“For what?”
“For letting us be part of yours and the baby's life and for accepting all three of us,” he says.
“Well from what I hear you three are a bit of a package deal anyway, something about fucking like rabbits,” I tease, and they both let out a frustrated sigh.
“Mila.”
Chapter Thirteen
BELLAMY
“It’s me, I need your help,” I tell Tanner on the phone.
As soon as I shut the door of my bedroom I dialed his number. Aside from Silas and Jace, Tanner is the only other man I’d trust to help with my mate.
My mate.
I’m not sure I even believe it’s possible to be this happy. Not only for Jade to accept us but the fact that we’re having a baby. The only damper I can see on this is that the baby is coming fast and it involves dark magic. What if something is wrong when she births the baby? Tanner and his mate Franny are the only people I can think of that might be able to help.
“What’s up man?” he asks, his tone serious, as he can tell merely by a few words that something serious is going on.
“Silas and the others escaped from the Black Coven. One of the women, Jade, is my mate, and she’s having a baby. Our baby. It’s a rapid birth influenced by the witches and I’m freaking the fuck out that something might happen to her or the baby,” I explain quickly, but I’m greeted by silence.
“Hang on, let me get Franny, a lot of what you said went right over my head,” he says, and I hear some shuffling around for a moment.
“Hello Bellamy, I hear you have an interesting situation on your hands. Tell me what’s going on and if I can help I will,” she says, her voice calm and soothing.
“Well…”
I go on to explain everything that happened from when Silas, Jade, Scarlett, and Mila arrived back to just a few minutes ago when I found out I’m going to be a dad. It doesn’t actually take that long to explain but when I’m done, I’m not feeling any better about what’s happening.
“Holy shit man! Congrats, I think,” Tanner says while Franny stays quiet for a few moments.
“Fuck, we’ll be down in a few hours. There are things I can do to help. I hope you have room for us and Renzo,” she says before hanging up the phone.
I’m beginning to think that woman just likes hanging up on me. Renzo is her monster, I know that much, which is why they have to stay here. Maybe we really should invest in a guest house and separate residence for the Alpha family? That way the pack can be blissfully unaware of all the craziness we have going on at any given time.
“I don’t mean to disturb you but I heard you hang up. Jade wanted me to come check on you and see if you were okay,” Darius says, his voice startling me, causing me to jump before glancing over to where he’s standing by the door.
“You have a problem with not knocking,” I sneer, trying to calm my heart and breathing from being startled and the fact that I’m in a room with a vampire alone. Something that I never thought I’d do again in a million years.
“I apologize, but I wasn’t sure you’d let me in if I knocked and when my kitten asks me to do something I do it,” he explains casually moving closer to the bed where I’m still sitting.
“I’m fine, really. I just wanted to call my friend and see if his mate knows anything that could help with the baby. Turns out I was right and they’ll be here in a few hours,” I tell him even though I don’t really owe him an explanation.
He walks closer, and the way he moves is sensual even in the way he makes it seem casual. Something about this vampire turns me on and disturbs me all at the same time. The trauma of the past can account for one but not the other. So what makes Darius the exception to my hate for his kind? Even Vikrim, though he hasn’t done anything wrong, still rubs me the wrong way.
Darius though, somehow my body wants him to rub me in all the right ways, damn our trauma and self preservation.
“It’s a good idea to get as much help as possible. Jade asking me to come up here isn’t the only reason I came though. You and I have a lot to talk about,” he says, stopping merely inches in front of where I’m sitting so that I have to look up at him.
“What could we possibly have to talk about?” I ask, but my tone betrays me as it comes out more husky than I would like.
