Sure, there were a few that would bring up Christian Carmichael’s family when they were interviewed, but her father never talked much about his only daughter because he didn’t spend a lot of time with her.
She was scanning the search articles when one hit her.
She clicked, her jaw dropping. Her father had been contacted to do a documentary for HBO. It looked like the filming might be starting soon.
She did more research but found nothing else. All she could hope for was her world wasn’t going to change again and she wouldn’t be forced to move when she felt like she finally belonged.
What was it that Faith said? A technology disruption? This could count and she guessed it wasn’t directed at Brent after all.

Watch Out For You
“Did it really bother you when Rob and I pushed you out of your comfort zone?”
Brent was dreaming again. It’d been a few weeks since he’d talked to his sister or Rob. Maybe it had something to do with the tarot reading they’d had days ago at the orchard.
He’d been watching Vivian for her reaction to it all and she’d laughed and then looked almost nervous in his eyes. He wasn’t sure why, but he was more concerned about what she’d think of things like this.
She didn’t find it was odd his mother talked to his sister so maybe she wouldn’t think it that he did either.
He’d fully expected to hear from Maureen or Rob before now, but guessed they had other things going on...wherever they were.
“Yes, it did,” he said.
“You could have told us,” she said.
“I tried for years. You wanted to hear nothing of it. Neither did Rob. You were both on my case like you wouldn’t believe to get out and experience life. I was doing it my way.”
“But you never fought us much on it,” Rob said, appearing next to his sister. Shit, this was nuts.
“Why bother? It wasn’t that big of a deal. And don’t you two have a life? Are you watching everything I’m doing with Vivian?”
They both started to laugh and look at each other. “You’re asking two ghosts in your dreams if we have a life?” Rob asked. “That’s ironic.”
“You know what I mean,” he said.
“We are dedicated to you,” Maureen said, giggling.
Rob looked at her and said, “Good one.”
“I hate to break up your fun, but what is this all about?” he asked. “Normally you two don’t bother me unless you’re worried over something.”
“Rob wanted to give you hell for being tempted to do a background search on Vivian. I wanted to watch him do it.”
He’d been working for days straight, not getting a lot of sleep and not thinking much of anything.
Last night he’d finished up what had been sent to him and crashed into bed face down around three a.m. He had no clue what time it was now and didn’t care.
“I can handle my life just fine,” he said.
“I know,” Rob said. “But you know I’ve got to watch out for you.”
“Me?” he said, laughing and wanting to give his best friend some grief in front of his sister. “You’re the one that almost shit yourself when I had a package delivered the first time when I moved in with you.”
“I didn’t expect anyone to be knocking on the door at six in the morning. When I asked what he wanted he wouldn’t tell me. I had every right to have my gun next to me when I went to the door.”
Brent laughed remembering that. An agent showed up with a delivery for him. That was when they realized they better call ahead of time. Rob answered the door and wasn’t letting the guy in. The agent was having none of it and the two of them were in a standoff with guns pointed. He’d heard the commotion and got up to see what was going on.
