“Will you have a problem keeping something I say between us?”

“Does it include my family?”

“It could.” Chaos and her sister were extended family, but now that the orchard had been directly included in this mess, I couldn’t be sure it wouldn’t impact the Mannings and the Ronsons, as well.

Beckett hooked his thumb into his jeans pocket and tapped his leg. “I’ll hear you out, but reserve the right to have a family meeting if needed.”

Clearly, things were now getting real. “Fair enough.”

“Go on then.”

“Chaos—Willow—has a problematic fan.”

Beckett’s face stayed unreadable, but his eyes went very chilly. “Not like before.”

Interesting. I hadn’t thought her college stalker would be common knowledge. “Not like Grafton. More digital and a nuisance, but he figured out her address, which makes me wary. She’s been careful about that since college.”

“More than careful. We didn’t even know her street address since she moved to the city. Aunt Laverne sends holiday stuff to her PO Box.”

I crossed my arms. “No shit?”

“Think Wil was more worried about it being in our database. Family can be trusted, but…”

“You can vet employees, but nothing is infallible.”

“Right.”

I filed away that nugget of information to tell Aidan later. “He also knows the orchard’s main address.”

“Not that it’s hard to find, but connecting it to her is harder.” His jaw tightened. “Anything of interest?”

That was a roundabout way of asking. He definitely kept things closer to the vest than his brothers. “Just a few packages. One was a drone.”

“That’s what that was. Everyone at the barn was talking about some toy.”

“It was intended to scare her. It worked. Damn sure wasn’t a toy. Looked like a survey drone to me. The kind that real estate people use. Maybe even more high tech than that.”

“Think he scanned the orchard?”

“The drone lit out pretty fast, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it did a cursory scan of the property first. At least to tell where the buildings are.”

“Can’t say I’m thrilled with that, but Google does the same yearly from a truck, I suppose.”

“Not quite the same.”

Beckett pushed himself off the post. “Want to take a look inside?”

I checked where Chaos was again.

“Are you that worried about her?”

I met Beckett’s gaze. Before I could say anything, he grinned at me.

“Like that, is it?”

“Shut up.”

He chuckled and moved to the door to punch in the code.
