“Not a tease, it’s a guarantee,” he assured.
Elliott raised an eyebrow. “Well, my house isright there.” She hitched her thumb over her shoulder. “You can make good on that guaranteeright now.”
Jonah gave her a look of mock scandal. “I’d never want you to think I’m so easy.”
She laughed. “That, you aren’t!”
He grasped her lightly by the back of the head and pulled her forward, kissing her forehead. When he pulled back, his attention fell from where he’d been contemplating her deck and, she suspected, her invitation. “Teach me how to box.”
Elliott gave him a curious look. “There are other ways to work out those frustrations, Mr. Montgomery.”
Jonah laughed. “Stop.I want you to teach me. This is your thing, something I know nothing about, and I even brought gloves.”
“You did?”
Jonah indicated the Jeep. “They aren’t as sexy as yours, but yes. Kale helped me with them.”
Elliott stepped back and tilted her head, eyeing him. “Did you bring a change of clothes, too? Because you can’t box in a button-down and jeans.”
“I did.”
Elliott stared at him for a few seconds, then shrugged. “Okay, Sugar Ray, get your stuff and let’s go change. Leave the gloves on the bench.”
Jonah made a contemplative sound. He looked again to the front deck.
A grin broke out over her face. “Are you afraid of me?”
“Fear is not the emotion running through me right now.”
She said slyly, “Well, I promise I’ll be on my best behavior. I’m going to head up; my bedroom is in the back. Guest bath is the first door on the left past the kitchen.”
