Jonah chuckled, looking at her again as though she was adorable.
“You didn’t even flinch. Lightning everywhere, and no flinching,” she pointed out.
“Just nature.” He brushed it off.“It’s nothing to be afraid of. And I will gladly assume the role of fearless protector during thunderstorms.”
“You have it.” She snuggled back into him. Even in the unbearable humidity and heat, his warmth was welcome. Judging from how his arms tightened around her, he didn’t mind it, either.
After a few minutes, however, he said leadingly, “If I recall, there’s a rainfall shower in your bathroom; we can always pretend.”
Elliott chuckled against him. “Is that your subtle way of telling me I stink?”
“Oh no, you look sexy as hell all dirtied up, but it would be a pleasure cleaning you.”
Tilting her head back, she gave him a wary look. “You better promise something more than just cleaning me.”
Jonah grinned. “Guarantee it.”
