And she took him to sleep with her, too. As her fingers played with herself and she sighed out his name, she wondered if he’d meant the same thing. The thought that he was touching himself while thinking of her brought her to orgasm, and she slipped into sleep, imagining what the real man could do to her.

But she’d set her alarm first. And as she beat the old clock to shut it up, she grabbed for her phone.

Elliott: Good morning, Jonah. Have a safe flight. Please let me know when you land safely.

She watched the phone in anticipation for several minutes, but nothing came back. Weary, she dropped it onto the sheets and fell back against her pillow. At least he’d see it when he landed and know she’d tried.

When the ding came back, her silly heart took flight.

Snatching up the phone, she read the message, grinning like a fool.

Jonah: After a shocked emoji,Sleeping Beauty awakens! Thank you, I will. It feels good to know I have someone to check in with.Followed by a blowing-heart emoji.

Elliott covered her flaming face with her hands as though he could see her reaction. Surely he was tired and hit the wrong emoji; she’d toy with that all day, torturing herself. And she knew Lucy would be checking in with him, too, but it was nice of him to say.

Regardless, she held the phone to her chest as she lay back down, wondering if this was the feeling everyone talked about when they said they were in love. Because if a text was all that got her this worked up, then yes… she could see it. She had the urge to watch rom-coms to compare her emotions to what they showed on the screen.

But first, she allowed herself to fall back to sleep, the hint of possibilities teasing her. No more monster for her, from her, in her; that, she was determined to keep tightly bound.

Bound…

Not the word she needed to drift off to sleep with.
