“I agree with you about them,” Becks added. “But I’m not them.”
He looked confused.
“I’m not them, but I’m not better than they are, either. Just different.” He stood up and stretched, looking around at the decorations. “I’ll leave you to the party. I just wanted to get a feel for who you are. And as much as you hate me, I like you. I like you for her.”
“That’s not your call.”
“No, but I think you’re a strong enough man to take her on. She finally finds a real man.”
Jonah frowned at him.
“I’ll be talking to you.” Becks side-stepped.
“Does she know what you’re doing?”
Becks paused before saying, “No. But if I can find a way to fix her, I’m going to do it.”
