“Understatement of the year, Bo–” I cut my words off and Giovanni smirks.
“Go walk Rosaline to her room then go get some sleep. We will talk more over breakfast. Okay?”
“Okay!” Rosaline blurts and jumps up from her seat. She pulls me out of my chair.
“I’m not even going to ask. Goodnight, love birds,” he chuckles.
Rosaline lets go of my hand, runs around the desk, gives Giovanni a big hug, a kiss on the cheek then makes her way back over to me. She grabs my hand.
“Goodnight,” she calls out.
I was lucky enough to grab my bag and get agood nightout before I’m dragged from the room. In a matter of minutes, we are standing in front of her bedroom door. She opens the door and glances over her shoulder at me.
“Cominginside again?” she grins.
“You naughty vixen,” I whisper, picking her up and carrying her inside. I kick the door closed behind us.
There isn’t any light in the room except the light shining through the window from outside. It’s just the right amount of light for me to see my way around the room as I walk over to her bed.
“Miss me?” she giggles.
“More than you know, mia rosa.”
“I really will be your rose soon, huh?” she asks as I lower her onto her bed. She keeps her arms wrapped around my neck. I lay on the bed next to her.
“Only if you want to be my rose.”
“The hitman’s rose,” she giggles.
“Ha! That’s quite the title, huh?”
“Has a nice ring to it,” she kisses me.
“I’ll get you a ring soon.” They aren’t just words. They’re a promise. “I didn’t expect to get engaged when I got home.”
Rosaline laughs.
“He asked me two days ago so don’t feel bad,” she sighs. “I didn’t have much notice, either.”
“But you’re okay being stuck with me for the rest of your life?”
“And then some, Ademaro Bianchi,” she assures me. “And you’re okay with being stuck with me?”
“But, of course, my rose. Forever my rose.”
We seal our fate with a passionate kiss. A kiss with many more to come. I vow to spend the rest of my life kissing her and tending to her happiness… until my last breath.
