I’m not short of female attention, although that’s not always a good thing. I made a pact years ago not to get too involved with any one woman, especially after my situation, they make men messy, and in my line of work, it’s not smart to have a permanent woman you care about who can be used against you.
I’m certainly not thinking about anything permanent, but it does get a bit old year after year. A little mystery and intrigue never hurt anyone, maybe that’s why I like her so much.
A small smile plays on her lips. “You make a very valid point.”
If she keeps up the coy flirting, I’ll have to slide her onto my lap and have her ride my cock. When I’m done with her, she won’t be able to walk for the rest of the week. Then I’ll move onto her mouth.
“I always speak my mind; I find there’s less bullshit that way. No point beating around the bush.” I tilt my head to the side, enjoying her reaction.
“That’s not a bad trait to have, it could be worse when you think about it.”
Oh, you have no idea, sweetheart.
“It could.” I grin, because the fucker in me is enjoying this a little bit too much. If only she knew the inner workings of my devious mind. She will soon.
We reach her place far too soon, and I somehow manage to keep my hands to myself, though after socking her ex, I’m ready to fuck. I’ve never needed or wanted a woman so bad.
“I’ll walk you out.” I place my glass to the side as she hands me hers.
“That was delicious.”
I smile, loving the slightly warmed pink hue on her cheeks.
Gus opens the passenger door, and she steps out first. I’m impressed with the tree-lined streets and the neighborhood she lives in.
“Nice digs,” I say as she opens the iron gate to the elegant Brownstone. I follow her right up the path toward the door.
She fishes her keys out of her purse. “Thank you, it was kind of you to…” She trails off, motioning toward the limo.
I rub my chin. There’s nothing kind about me.
She looks like she wants to ask me something. “What is it?” I give her a chin lift as her eyes lift to mine.
“You’re not really going to do anything else to Dane, are you?”
I lean toward her slightly, digging my hands into my pockets, and shrug.Ah, so that’s his name. “I don’t like assholes, Rayne, so that leaves me wondering what Ishoulddo with him. He’s a problem, and it doesn’t seem like he’s getting the hint.”
Little does she know I’ll have a field day with him when I feel like it. I don’t like how he manhandled her, and I don’t like his track record of battery or trying to extort her for money, either. I plan to enjoy taking him down very soon.
“He’s all bark, honestly,” she tries to tell me.
I motion to her arm; I can still see the red mark where he grabbed her. “Doesn’t look like it.”
She swallows hard, and I step toward her. “Don’t you worry your pretty little head about any of that.”
“I don’t want him…. permanently hurt,” she maintains. “It’s genuinely not worth it.”
She can’t say the words, how sweet.
I choke back a laugh; she has no idea what is worth it for me and what isn’t. “Lawyers can only do so much,” I say. “And they don’t protect you from restraining orders.”
“How do you know about that?”
I hold her gaze. “I heard you yell it at him.”
That she did, but I already know everything I need to know about that cocksucker.
She looks down again. Fuck she looks like an angel. “Well, it’s been an eventful evening, and thank you for making me look good in front of my boss.”
