Shayla shakes her head and fixes me with a look I couldn’t quite decipher. “Eye for an eye, you say?”
I nod, “Exactly.”
“Have you never heard the saying ‘An Eye for an eye leaves the world blind’ Cole Hoult?”
“Ahh yes, my good friend, Gandhi,” I say as I wrap my arm around her shoulder, and we walk to the apartment complex.
“Good friend?” Shayla asks peering up at me as we walk.
I smile, “Why yes, he was a good buddy of mine.”
Shayla snorts, “Cole, you weren’t even thought of when he was killed.”
I chuckle, “In a former lifetime, mini muffin.”
“You’re incorrigible.” She mutters and pushes me away from her.
“You love me.”
“Don’t push your luck, Hoult.”
