“Yes, dear.” I mock, grabbing an apple. I kiss her temple as I walk past her back to the bedroom to get ready. After a quick shower, I was dressed and sitting at the table, thoroughly enjoying my pancakes. “These pancakes are incredible!” I call out to Shayla, who was currently getting ready in her bedroom.

“Glad you like them!” She shouts back. “Still prefer the breakfast bar ones, though.” I moan at the mere thought of those fluffy pancakes. They really were to die for. Ten minutes later, Shayla comes out dressed and ready to go. “Wow, that was fast.”

“What do you mean?” She questions, looking at me confused while sliding her phone into the back pocket of her jeans.

“I mean, you took ten minutes to get ready. I’ve never known any female ever to take less than an hour to get ready for anything.” I explain as we walk to the front door of the apartment.

“Cole, I have never taken an hour to get ready for anything in my life.” She says with a shrug while we wait for the elevator side by side.

“Sweetheart, you truly are a rare breed.” I compliment her, and she responds with a toothy grin. I reach over and tweak her nose, and she bats my hand away.

“What is it with you and touching my nose?” She grumbles, walking into the elevator.

“I like it. It’s small, like a cute button.” I chuckle when she touches her nose and looks at me.

“It is not.”

“You’re adorable.”

“Shut up.”
