Page 80 of Love Me Again

“Cole.” He grins wickedly, showing off his dimples, and I return his smile. “Single?”

I laugh and nod. “Last time I checked. You?”

Cole nods, pressing his forehead to mine. “Hopefully not after tonight.”

“Do you feed that line to all the girls?” I ask bashfully, and Cole licks his lips slowly and narrows his eyes a little.

“Only five-foot-six brunettes with beautiful green eyes and killer smiles.” I laugh and snake my arms around his neck.

“That’s very specific.”

Cole nods, brushing his fingers down my bare spine as we dance. “I like what I like, and you tick all the boxes, sweetheart.” I bite my lip and tilt my head back when he kisses along my jaw.

“Lucky for you, I’m a sucker for very tall bad boys with sexy dimples.” Cole smiles against my jaw, and his arms tighten around my waist.

“If you’re lucky, I’ll let you tongue fuck one later.” I throw my head back and laugh, and Cole chuckles, taking the opportunity, he kisses my neck. “You hungry?”

“Starving.” I moan, turning my gaze up to him, and he smiles charmingly and brushes his slender fingers through my wavy hair.

“How about we go someplace to get something to eat?” I smile and nod. Cole takes my hand into his, and he says something to Josh, who nods with a grin and gives him a thumbs up. I wave to Aimee, and she blows me a kiss with a wink and mouths ‘Have fun’ before Cole pulls me out of the bar.

“So, where are we going?” I ask when we step into the elevator. Cole looks at me and grins.

“Someplace you’ll love.” He laces his fingers with mine and pulls me to the limo waiting outside. We climb in. Cole looks at me and smiles handsomely. He reaches up and brushes his fingers through my hair. “You’re something special, Shayla Hart.”

I smile and press my lips together, lowering my gaze to his mouth before I meet his eyes again. “How can you possibly tell? You just met me.”

Cole exhales slowly, and his eyes wander over my face. “Call it an intuition.”

“How very perceptive of you, Mr Cole,” I utter, brushing my index finger down the side of his face. Cole's eyes close at my touch, and he grins when I trace the outline of his dimple. Despite my best efforts not to, I find myself leaning in closer as he stares at my lips, slowly inching closer. However, just as my eyes slide shut and our lips are about to touch, the car rolls to a stop, and we pull back. I look around and see we’re at a drive-through Mcdonalds. I smile as Cole rolls the window down and orders my favourites. Chicken tenders, a box of nuggets, large fries, and a banana milkshake. We drive around and wait for our food. “I haven’t had Mcdonalds in so long.”

Cole grins, “I know. It’s one of your go-to places when you’re drunk. You’ve got me hooked on it too.”

I laugh, “I remember the first time I insisted we go to Mcdonalds. You thought I was crazy to want to eat processed junk.” I remind him and take the bag of food from him and set it in my lap while he pays.

“Yes, you were rather appalled that I’d never been to a McDonald's.” Cole laughs as I eat a fry.

“Of course I was! Who hasn’t been to a McDonald’s ever in their life? That’s just sad.” I utter, feeding him a chicken nugget, and he takes a bite.

“I wasn’t allowed to eat stuff like this growing up. I was very cautious with my nutrition and what I ate and would put in my body before you came into my life. You’re a bad influence, Shayla Hoult.” He smiles, squinting his eyes at me playfully.

I laugh and bite into a chicken tender. “Life is too short to worry about such trivial things.”

Cole laughs, shaking his head. “Yeah, let’s make it shorter by eating deep-fried junk food that will inevitably clog up your arteries.”

“Don’t be such a Debbie Downer. I would prefer to die suddenly without any form of regrets than to spend my last moments in my death bed, pondering about all the things I wish I had done but missed out on because I was too worried about dying.” I sigh, holding up a fry to his lips. “We’re all going to die sooner or later, Cole. Life is what you make of it after all, right?” Cole takes a bite of the fry and nods.

“Mm, live in the moment, you say?”

“And seize every opportunity.” I match his grin when we toast our nuggets and laugh. We spent the hour eating our food, drinking more champagne, talking, and laughing our arses off while driving around the city. While we were driving over Tower Bridge, I push the sunroof open and clambered up. It was freezing, but I didn’t care. I lift my gaze when I see the snow falling. It never snows in December in London. “Cole, get up here. It’s snowing!”

Cole climbs up beside me and looks around in wonder. It was coming down hard and setting, everything slowly turning white. It was beautiful. Cole wraps his arms around my waist and kisses my jaw when I close my eyes. “Merry Christmas, baby,” Cole whispers in my ear, and I smile and look up at him.

“Merry Christmas, baby,” I reply, and Cole dips his head and kisses me softly on the lips, his thumb stroking my jaw. I pull back and look up at him. “Let’s go home,” I whisper, and he smiles handsomely and nods. Cole pulls me back in the limo and closes the sunroof.

“You’re freezing.” He mumbles, brushing a snowflake off my cheek with his slender fingers. I shake my head and brush away the snowflakes caught in his hair. I was shivering, but weirdly I wasn’t cold. It must have been all the alcohol.

“I’m not,” I answer, looking over his face. Cole takes my cold fingers and presses them against his lips.
