“I don’t recall hearing a single complaint from you at the time, but fine, I hope you know you’re running the risk of raising our baby without its father, Evans,” Devin grumbles adorably.

“It’s okay; I’ve got a backup daddy already in line should that instance occur.” I quip. Devin’s brows furrow, and he watches me with interest.

“Oh really? Who is this backup daddy then?”

I grin and take a slow sip of my coffee, deliberately making him wait. Finally, I swallow the liquid and lick my lips. “Wyatt, of course.”

Devin’s facial features soften, and he sighs, the corner of his mouth lifting with amusement. “You two have the strangest friendship. Anyone looking in from the outside would think you’re an item.”

I cock my head, “Jealous?”

Devin smiles and leans over, his dark eyes on mine. “Sometimes, only because I was that close with you once upon a time.”

I rest my head in my hand and smile, “This is true. But now you’re close with me in a completely different way unless you’d prefer to go back to how things used to be?”

Devin frowns, “Fuck no. I think I’ll stay as I am. Being your best friend was great, but being your best friend and lover is so much better.”

“Don’t forget baby daddy.” I point out, and he laughs.

We sat there talking for a while, and then we went back to his penthouse apartment. Much like my dream, it was incredible. Situated on the forty-second floor. Designed and decorated beautifully, modern, classy. A huge terrace with an infinity pool overlooking the breathtaking Singapore skyline. I must say in comparison to Singapore, London leaves much to be desired. “Dev, this place is amazing.” I gush, walking out onto the terrace. Given it’s the middle of summer, Singapore isn’t stuffy like London. The fresh evening breeze is just enough to cool you down without making you feel cold.

“I’m really glad you like it.” I smile when he comes up behind me and drops a kiss on my cheek. “I need to make a real quick call, and then we can get something to eat. Make yourself at home. ” I tilt my head back to look up at him, and he cups my face and brushes an upside-down kiss on my lips. “I’ll be right back.”

Devin disappears inside, leaving me out on the terrace. I stood there trying to picture myself living here. I just couldn’t see it. Yes, we have a company here that I could potentially work at but living in a foreign country where you don’t speak the language, you don’t know anyone. I’ll feel lost here. I mean, it’s a beautiful place, it’s clean, and the people are kind, but I know I don’t belong here. I want our baby to be born in the same country as its parents were. I want it to grow up around family. I don’t know how Devin and I will figure this out, but I truly hope we do for the sake of our baby, if nothing else.

I’m lost someplace in my mind when I feel Devin come up behind me and hear him whisper in my ear. “Come with me; I have something to show you.”

I follow him through the apartment toward the elevator. “Where are we going?” I ask curiously, and he smiles, lacing his fingers with mine.

“You’ll see.” Devin pushes the button to the roof terrace, and I smile. He’s got that wicked glint in his eyes, and I smile, the nerves in my stomach twisting like a pretzel.

“What are you up to, Devin King?” I question impatiently. Devin pulls me up against him and kisses me softly.

“Patience never was your strong suit, baby.” He murmurs against my lips. The elevator slows, and the doors swing open. Devin pulls me out of the car onto the rooftop terrace. I gasp upon seeing the twinkling fairy lights and candles along with the floor lighting up the deck magnificently leading toward a table for two. The pool glows with a deep blue hue sprinkled with white and blue silk orchid petals.

“Oh my God.” I breathe utterly astounded. “Dev.” I look up at him when he moves to stand in front of me. “What is all this?”

Devin smiles and draws me closer, “Hopefully, the very first day of the rest of our lives together.” He declares lovingly, combing his fingers through my wavy hair while he gazes dotingly into my eyes. “I initially intended to tell you I loved you up here today while gazing into your beautifully endless amber eyes.” I lean into his hand when he caresses my cheek. “I’m so in love with you, Mira, my Tinks. You’re my first everything…” Devin expresses and steps back; reaching into his pocket, he pulls out a red velvet box and drops to his knee in front of me. Every bit of air speeds right out of my lungs when he opens the box, and I see the most beautiful diamond ring sitting in the Cartier box. “And I want you to be my last. Will you marry me, Tinks?”

My eyes fill with tears instantly, and I bite back the sob. “Dev, you said you weren’t ready for marriage.”

Devin smiles and licks his lips, “I wasn’t ready to become a dad either, but here I am, having a baby with the most incredible girl to ever fall into my life. We’ve done everything backwards, Mira, and it’s been messy, but I know without a doubt you’re the one, you always have been. My heart inadvertently fell in love with you that very day you tumbled over with your Tinkerbell bike.” I half laugh, half sob, and he grins handsomely.

“But everything you said before about us not being ready…”

“I just had to be sure you were absolutely certain you wanted to keep the baby.” He admits openly. “What do you say? Will you be my forever? Will you be this hopeless King’s beautiful Queen?”

I nod, biting my lip, “Yes,” I cry. Devin grins, taking my hand and slides the ring on my finger.

“Hopefully, this ring won’t give you a rash.” He jokes, standing and pulling me to him, drawing my mouth to his for our first kiss as an engaged couple. I’m engaged to Devin King. My first love, my first kiss, the first man to ever touch me and hopefully the last. The father of my unborn child.

The love of my life.

I’ve always had a vision of who we could be together, what my life would be like with him. The intensity of our connection was always so intoxicating, and it still is, and I got off on being the one he would ever truly feel that way about. One lifetime with him would simply never be enough.

The food remained untouched while Devin and I once again became immersed with one another. He tore my dress open, buttons flying all over the place and tossed it carelessly aside. His fingers hook into my thong, and he slowly glides it down my legs, kneeling in front of me. I watch him closely, his eyes on mine, his hands slide up the side of my legs, and his lips press against my stomach. My heart quivers at the gesture. I brush my fingers through his hair, caressing his face. I’m so in love with him; there are simply no words.

Walking around him, I stroll over to the steps of the pool. Devin watches me keenly and stands up to follow me as I move down each step and dive into the pool. The water is cool against my heated skin; goosebumps rise all over my body. I come up to the surface and suck in a deep breath, greedily filling my lungs with air. Devin dives in after me and swims over, coming up in front of me.

Our lips, like two powerful magnets, find one another. He pulls me under, lips still locked. My body enfolds around him, and he pushes us back up to the surface, slowly backing me up against the tiles of the pool. We kiss hungrily but unhurriedly until he pulls his lips away, leaving me in a stupor and lifts me out of the pool, spreading my legs wide. “My Queen, let me worship at your throne.” I moan, watching him kiss his way down, teasing and sucking my sensitive nipples and down to my most sacred spot. It didn’t take me long to come apart, I was already pulsing with the desperate need for him, and it’s been a hot minute since I’ve had the pleasure of his wickedly lavish tongue wreaking absolute havoc over my body and sending me soaring up to the gates of heaven and back.

Before I could recover, Devin pulls me back into the pool and kisses me hard and deep, driving me wild for him all over again. “I’m so infatuated with you, Mira. The way you walk, the way you talk, the way you taste…God baby, the way you taste.” Devin pants, pressing his forehead to mine. I cup his face and kiss him, teasing his tongue with mine. I whimper into his mouth when he slides himself into me, filling me completely. We rock together, hands wandering off to explore every inch of exposed skin. Devin took his time, feeding his throbbing cock into me methodically, the crown stroking my g-spot pushing me closer and closer to that all-consuming release.

“God, Dev, I love you.”

Devin groans, pressing his forehead to mine, sweeping his nose down the length of mine. “I love you, too, so damn much.” He pants and pushes into me one last time and sends me hurling over the edge.

Like I said, one lifetime with Devin King simply isn’t enough.
