“Shh, don’t panic just hold your stomach and pretend you’re having contractions.” I tell her while I slide my fingers out of her. I almost lift my fingers to my mouth to suck them off but catch myself just in time. Rein groans and presses her hands to her stomach feigning pain. I look over at the couple a few feet from us and smile. “Braxton hicks’ contractions.” They nod in understanding and offer a sympathetic smile as they walk by.
“I’m going to kill you.” Rein threatens gritting her teeth. I throw my head back and laugh. She watches me, shakes her head and smiles, her cheeks flushed, eyes wide and gleaming wickedly. “I’m never showing my face at this store again. Let’s go.”
“Hold on, I need a minute.” I gesture to the very evident bulge at the front of my jeans. Rein’s eyes follow and she smiles scratching the back of her neck, her cheeks turning a deeper shade of red.
Reaching over I take a hold of her hand and draw her to me before I brush a tender kiss to her lips and she sighs lustfully when I pull back.
“Now we can go.”
* * *
“Don’t go.”I murmur against her lips, drawing her back to me for a long and deep kiss. We’re currently sitting in my car, kissing like a couple of adolescent teenagers.
Rein smiles, peering up at me when I pull back and gaze into her pretty eyes. “I have to, my grandmother and aunt are wondering where I am. They’re blowing up my phone with calls.”
I sigh and despite the disappointment that fills me, I nod. “I’m going to see you tomorrow though, right?” I ask and Rein purses her lips, lowering her eyes to look at our hands while I play with her fingers.
“Maybe,” she replies with a smile, “My Grammy drags us to church every Sunday morning in hopes that she can find me a husband.” I frown and shake my head. Eh? Did I hear that right? Did she seriously just say her grandmother is trying to find her a husband?
“Excuse me?” I sputter incredulously.
Rein smiles, licking her lips. “Yep, she’s gotten it into her head that I need to marry a nice man who is true to his faith and will take care for me and be a good father to my child.”
I ball my fists and my clench my jaw so tight it throbs. The thought of another man touching Rein infuriates me to no end, but some random man playing daddy to my son, I don’t fucking think so. “Over my dead body will I allow another man near you and my child.” I hiss vehemently and reach for the door handle. “I’ll burn that church and every fucker in it before I let another man marry the woman I love. In fact, I’m going in there and telling her that.” Rein grabs my arm and pulls me back.
“Talon, get back here.” I turn to look at her, scowling deeply and she sighs. “You can’t just bust in there and confront my grandmother. She doesn’t even know you’re back in my life.”
“Well, she’s about to find out.” I pull my arm out of her hold and all but kick the door open before I get out. With all due respect the woman has lost her damn mind if she thinks I’ll stand by and allow Rein to marry another man.
“Talon, wait!” Rein calls out after me. She catches up with me and grabs my arm, pulling me back to her. “Listen to me, if you go in there and ambush her, it will make things ten times worse, trust me. Let me break it to her gently, she already hates you, don’t add more fuel to the fire, please?” I lift my gaze heavenward and exhale. Goddamn it, I’m sick to death of constantly hiding our relationship. I just want to be with her, openly and honestly. If Rein is going to marry anyone it’s going to be me, the man she loves and the father of her child not some knucklehead from church that her grandmother deems suitable.
“I hope you know I’ll be at that church tomorrow.” Rein laughs and pulls me closer. “Laugh it up Snowflake, you think I’m jesting but let me catch another man sniffing around my girl and I’ll personally introduce them to their creator before service is over.” I utter irritably. Rein smiles, gazing up at me through her lashes. “What are you grinning at?’
“You’re so irresistible when you’re all riled up, Professor.” I stare at her and despite my infuriation my lips curl into a smile, an angry one but still a smile, nonetheless. “All possessive and uncouth. It’s so very unlike you.”
I curl my fingers at the nape of her neck and draw her face close to mine, “Rein, I may be calm most of the time, but make no mistake, for you and our son I will burn this world to cinders before I allow another man to touch what is mine. You’re mine, you were always meant to be mine and that’s not going to change despite your grandmother’s disapproval of me. She can take you to the end of the earth, and I’ll still find you. I don’t know how you’ve done it, but you’ve infected me with your love and I’m addicted to you.” I explain sombrely, brushing my nose affectionately over hers.
Rein smiles beautifully and gazes lovingly into my eyes, “Lucky for you, Professor I have no intention of going anywhere nor marrying anyone that’s not you, so kiss me, you giant amorous oaf.”
I grin and sweep down, claiming her lips in an ardent kiss. Rein moans when our tongues glide over one another and she sucks the tip of mine sending my body into a frenzy.
