Dele huffs. “I was far from fine, Viper. How could I be when you just fucked me in front of a bunch of depraved men for their entertainment because they get off on rape?”
“I didn’t rape you.”
“I didn’t say that you did.”
“Besides, you were certainly enjoying it the entire time.”
The fury and defiance I was looking for earlier briefly alights her eyes before it quicks dies and she looks away from me.
She huffs and says quietly, “Yeah. That’s what they said too.”
“Who’s they?”
“That gang you killed. You know. The one that… after Brin.”
I frown, still not making whatever connection she wants me to make. Still not seeing why she’s connecting the necessity of my fucking her so no one else would be able to, protecting her, to that clusterfuck of an incident.
Dele mutters something else.
“What did you say?”
“Jason Travis,” she manages louder without looking at me still.
“What about him?”
“He was there.”
“He was where?”
“Thatnight. He was there. He hired that gang to kidnap me after he heard the Soles had denounced me.”
