“I can’t apologise enough to you Zara. I promise I’m going to get everything tied up here as soon as possible and I’ll be back with you before you know it.”
She sniffs on the other end of the phone, and I know she’s crying. I can’t believe how stupid I’ve been.
“Zara sweetheart please don’t cry. I love you with every bit of me and I promise I’ll make it up to you.”
“Sorry. It’s just… Buckie I can’t lose you again. I don’t want to be alone anymore.”
My heart shatters for her. “You won’t lose me, I promise. I’ll always be here.”
“I love you Buckie. Please remember that and get back to me as soon as you can.”
“I promise. I’ll call you later before it’s too late where you are.”
“Okay bye,” she says on a sigh, and we hang up.
This is a fucking disaster. Throughout my whole career I’ve never done anything to have people gossip about me. I’ve kept myself as much under the radar as I could and there hasn’t been much gossip printed about me in all my years in the spotlight. But this shitshow has to stop before it gains momentum. Because I know what can happen when the gossips get the bit between their teeth with a story like this. The studio PR machine will take it as a great opportunity to make the movie even more successful. Added publicity that they haven’t had to pay for will be right up their street. I’ll have to speak to Annalise at some point during this three-week stint in L.A. We have a couple of chat shows to do together and I need to make it clear to her that she can’t use this to her advantage. We have to put on a united front and tell anyone who asks that it’s simply not true.
