I know she’s right, but it doesn’t make the sting any easier to bear. I’m glad no one knows about us outside our families otherwise this could be very messy.

“Think you can eat some lunch? It really does look great.”
She isn’t kidding. The chicken salad and matchstick potatoes look fantastic. And I am very hungry, as my rumbling stomach reminds me.
“Yeah, I need to eat and for now I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt.”
I look at Joe who’s eyebrows are almost touching each other.
“Joe, sweetheart, please stop frowning. It’s not becoming of you.” Nessa Rolls her eyes at him.
“He better have a good explanation for this or he’s t-o-a-s-t,” he spells out half covering Freya’s ears.
He makes me laugh and it lightens the mood a little. I eat with them, but I can’t stop the nasty thoughts rolling around in my head. Picturing Buckie and Annalise together makes me feel sick. I want to believe it’s innocent but how much do I really know Buckie? He’s not the same person who left Glasgow, and neither am I. Do we belong together all these years later? I guess time will tell.
