For a moment, no one moved.

Maya stared at Advic. Something was wrong. He still hadn’t looked at her.

“Advic?” she asked carefully.

He flinched and then turned away, striding across the room toward the bathroom. He spoke over his shoulder, aiming his next words at Stuart. “Why don’t you carry her into my room? You can use it until she’s strong enough to leave. No reason for her to stay in the clinic any longer. It will be too crazy in there for anyone to rest.” He entered the bathroom and shut the door.

What the fuck?

“Stu? What’s going on?”

“Not a damn clue.” He dropped down next to her again and wrapped an arm around her. “Fill me in. Tell me everything.”
