Now I’m dying to know how much he actually charges to kill someone. I wonder if he would tell me if I asked.
“So is that it then?” I ask. “Are we sorted?”
“We are. How soon will Siobhan be with Cillian’s new passport?”
"I’ve already asked her to rush it. A couple of hours."
She nods, her face grim. “Guess, we’re going home today, after all.”
“He’s going to have a few hours head start,” I say, pointing out the obvious to everyone’s annoyance, but fuck that. It needed to be said out loud.
“Yep,” she says and then disappears into the bathroom, closing the door on us and then we hear the shower.
“Not it next time,” I say, getting that out there.
“Let’s leave her to process,” Declan says. “Besides, Tadgh is on his way here. He has more information to tell us that might give us the upper hand.”
I glance at the bathroom door, but follow the rest of the men out of the bedroom, hoping that when we get home, Ruby doesn’t crumble because it’s clear that no matter how much of a strong front she is putting on, she is still deeply traumatized by what happened to her. It’s going to be a long, hard road and I feel this is only going to make it worse.
