He nods. “I can make that work. I have money that I need to move around.”

“Do you have anyone you can still trust?”

“Tadgh,” he replies.

A slice of ice slides down my spine at his name. “Mm,” I murmur.

“I should go. I’ll see you in two days,” he says, standing up.

I stand as well.

“I’m worried about you,” I say worriedly. “Is there anything I can do?”

“Just make sure you have somewhere for me in England. I’m no good at sitting on my arse doing nothing.”

I nod slowly, an idea forming in my head already. I don’t say anything though. This could potentially be huge, and I need to talk to the other men first, especially Declan. A thought occurs to me. “Do you know what Declan does?” I venture.

His eyes shoot to mine and go guarded. “Do you?” he asks carefully.

I nod.

He nods back and that is the end of that. I’m glad he knows how to protect his brother. There is no rivalry there that I can see and that will bode well. I’m still madly curious about the whole Siobhan thing, especially as their mom didn’t seem to know about her and Cillian. Only her and Declan, but I suppose it will come out eventually. I can wait.

“Be safe,” he murmurs, drawing me towards him and kissing the top of my head.

I’m getting a bit tired of that, but at the same time, I understand why they’re doing it.

“When we get to England…is there unfinished business there?” he asks quietly.

“Declan took care of it,” I mutter.

“Good. He would’ve suffered.”

I hesitate to tell him the rest, but hey, he wants to know me, so I dive in. “The man who abducted me in the first place…I killed him. Stabbed him until he was nothing more than a sack of meat in a pool of blood. Still want to get involved?” I add lightly.

The heat in his eyes tells me all I need to know. He is as turned on by my vicious side as his twin is.

Works for me.

“Oh, yeah,” he says. “Nothing sexier than a woman who knows how to handle herself.”

I snort. “Yeah, look how far that got me, though.”

“It got you free.”

“True. Declan had to do the rest.”

I nod and pull away from him, digging around in my bag for the black knife he lent me. “Want this back?” I ask, holding it out to him.

“Eventually. You keep it for now.”

“I guess, I’ll see you in a couple of days then,” I say.

He smirks and leans forward to plant a kiss on my lips. “Do my kisses really suck?” he asks with a snort of laughter.

“Oh, please. If you’re fishing for a compliment, don’t bother. You know you made my knees weak. Just in a different way to Declan. That’s good though. If it was the same, it would freak me out.”

“You and me both,” he mutters with a shudder.

We share a laugh and then he kisses me again chastely before he disappears into the night, leaving me considerably worried about him. At least I’m not worried about me, so it’s something else to focus on. I hope he makes it back here in two days, or there is going to be hell to pay and not even the stench of my own fear will stop me from avenging him.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t come to that.
